Re: GPS input

Hi Guys,

Mark has just sent me an email and he has successfully located the speed signal for the Series II (T30) in the service manual.

Image

It shows it between terminal 33 on the combination meter and terminal 36 on the timer control unit, it supplies to the VSS motor & the AV Audio unit ( the Japanese X trail has a GPS system available ).

Thanks Mark.

That's interesting! Does "successfully located" imply that a connection has been made with a GPS unit and confirmed that it reads it as a speed pulse? Or is it just located in the service manual and yet to be confirmed?

Adam,

Not sure if Mark has tested this yet, but he only confirmed that he found it the service manual.

Re: GPS input

I had the Body control timer & instument cluster out over the weekend ( whilst I fitted a Mongoose MAP80 add on alarm system) , and spend quite some time counting pins & plugs etc but there was no wire fitted where the diagram lists it. Now mine is a man trans so I could understand, but I would love someone with a auto to do the same as it show that the speed sensor wire also feeds the transmission controller.
If that all fails the UK supplier of the CANM8 wrote back and will supply them at 39 UKP + 11 pound shipping.

Ah! Yeah, that's the same problem as the pin 11 solution that Andrew claimed to have found, not only is there no wire from the pin but there is no metal connector in the pin hole either! So you have to try an insert one. emoticon

That is a great price, to save the hassle of trying to put pin connectors into the existing plug I think this is the better option.

Re: GPS input

Well, the GPS/DVD unit has landed ( thanks to Ebay ), it is Eclipse AVN6000 and I have ordered the CANM8 PULSE from the UK. I will fit it as soon as the CANM8 arrives and post some photos.

Mark
