Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

Sorry to bring up a thread from the past.
I have just purchased new mags and tyres and am now worried I may have stuffed up.

I was put onto this company from a mate.
www.tempetyres.com.au

They have a wheel wizard where you select your make/model and what size rim you want then they come back with the package prices with tyres.

Anyway we chose 18*8.0 KSpeed Shallen
The tyres we get with it are Kumho Ecsta SPT
245/50/R18.

They are being sent out by post tomorrow, unless someone on this forum warns me quickly not to do this.

Thanks
Matt

Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

Firstly your chosen tyre size will be legal. A fair amount different, but still under the maximum 3%

Image

Secondly regarding your choice of rims you should at least check the stud bolt pattern to make sure they match. Here is what you need to match if you were upgrading up from a 16":

5 bolt pattern, rim size is 6" x 6.5" offset is 40mm

Stud/bolt pattern 5 x 114.3

I'm not 100% sure but think this is also the identical measurements to your 15" steel rims.

Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

Matt,

245/45/18 would be the perfect match going up from the factory 15" tyres and rims.

The stud and bolt pattern is the same for Ti and ST.

Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

What about RTA wheel guidelines stating that you can't go larger diameter than 15mm more than standard overall diameter? Noel's charts show the new 18inch tyres will be more than 15mm in diameter...

(see bottom of page 2 of the PDF - by the way, the PDF is a newer version than what I have previously seen)

That is exactly correct Rich and that is why I suggested the 245/45R18 tyres instead

Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

Fellow Victorians,

It is my understanding that in VIC the rim size can only go 2" bigger from the size originally fitted to the vehicle.

Example: 16" can go to 18". Also the width of the rim can not exceed 8".

My old Wrangler ran 15"x10" rim with 33"x12.5" tyres. Looked great but illegal.

And if the insurance company was to find out in the event of an accident then your insurance is void.

Tyres can be no more than 5mm outside of the wheel arch.

Re: Compatible Alloys for X-Trail

Wow Jalal,
How long did it take you to compile that list?
I am assuming that for instance;
CHRYSLER JEEP CHEROKEE <99 5X114.3 35 71.5
Up to year model 99, 5 means stud pattern, 114.3 is measurement between studs, and the rest?
So good to know we have a vast choice of rims.
Thanks for that.
Tony
