The term has probably continued to be used even today, and probably used for the same purpose... nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Fri, 19 May 2006 20:05:49 +0000 Re: Tevion Car CD/MP3 Radio - installation question.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871418,from=rss#post871418https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871418,from=rss#post871418quote:Doeas the Tevion unit have an aerial trim? Some head units have a small screw on the back to adjust to the aerial. Just a thought.nondisclosed_email@example.com (AKAK9)Tue, 16 May 2006 20:00:08 +0000 Re: Tevion Car CD/MP3 Radio - installation question.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871416,from=rss#post871416https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871416,from=rss#post871416quote:Tino66 wrote: In the process of removing/installing stereo, I realized there is the "power antenna wire" which I did not connect when installing the Tevion's stereo. Does any one know where this wire connect to in a non-Nisssan 's stereo? Note, this "power antenna wire" does not mean extending or retracting the antenna. If it is disconnected, the radio does not pick up any signal. I noticed this too when I was swapping out my factory unit. I suspect that there is an amplifier on the antenna and this is the power for that. On an aftermarket stereo you would probably need to use the amp switch output (if it has one) or the electric aerial feed if it provides 12V at a reasonable amperage. I did not connect this wire to my new head unit and the radio seems to operate fine but the head unit itself has a good tuner in it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rybky)Mon, 15 May 2006 22:04:57 +0000 Re: Tevion Car CD/MP3 Radio - installation question.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871415,from=rss#post871415https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871415,from=rss#post871415I bought the Navman GPS Pin 570 http://www.navman.com/Navman/Templates/productinformation____13023.aspx and find out that the Tevion's CD player interfere with the GPS receiver so out went the Tevion and the origninal stereo went back in. Model is "DEH2850MP". It's probably their entry-level unit, and I'm not sure how entry-level units are priced these days - I remember many years ago they were around the $250 mark (well before MP3 CD players became available), or even if this model might be priced cheaper elsewhere (like JB HiFi for example). It seems like a pretty good price for one with RCA outputs and plays MP3's as well... nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Thu, 30 Mar 2006 20:28:13 +0000 Re: Tevion Car CD/MP3 Radio - installation question.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871413,from=rss#post871413https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p871413,from=rss#post871413Hi Tino66, I just fitted the same unit to my wife's starlet that I seem to drive a lot not quite sure how that works but anyway back to your stereo you should have got a radio signal from just conecting the aerial as this in most cases supplies the earth I did connect the earth supplied because I did a little test and screwing the unit into the dash that is earthed did not allow this unit to work with its supplied earth and the aerial disconected. The x-trail unit is earthed by its body once crewed in place plus the x-trail has crap reception I thought it was the aerial but when I changed my head unit I now have excellant reception. I have bought Tevion products before and have taken things back once & even twice before I got one that worked like it should in saying that Im very happy with this unit as I use it the most and my wife gets the x-trail with the clarion mp3/wma player. As for your AM radio noise - I never listen to AM but have heard about the terrible noise problems other people have experienced - even with quality brand radios. I can't recall how they fixed it. Maybe have a look on CAA forums? As for the antenna ground - I would've done what you already suggested - connecting the chassis of the car (or a negative wire in the loom, but chassis is easier) to the negative on the radio (in the ISO plug/socket). Even though you've used the connector for the negative, have you still checked to see if the frame of the Tevion radio is grounded? I am surprised Nissan use the frame of the fatory radio for the negative connection. Not having the frame of the Tevion radio grounded might be causing the poor AM radio reception/noise. All went well except problem with the radio and am still looking for answers so hopefully will find some expert in car audio area here. The radio does not work properly in that the signal is very weak - fade in and out as if no antenna is connected. I borrowed and connected an external car antenna to the Tevion and the radio works fine. Antenna problem may be?? Well, I then put the origninal Nissan stereo back and connect to the internal car Antenna and everything is OK. Some how the Tevion's radio does not work with the Nissan's antenna. Further troubleshooting with the problem, I found out if the Antenna earth is disconnected (i.e only the middle wire of the antenna is connected to the stereo), the radio works fine with one exception: cracking noise in AM (not FM or CD) including indicator signals coming through to the speakers when the engine is running. Everything else works fine: CD, MP3, FM radio and music from USB stick. The difference between the Nissan and Tevion I observed is as follow: The Nissan stereo 's does not have a Ground Wire in the ISO connector where as with the Tevion, I had to connect the ground wire from the ISO connector to the Car's chassis. Does anyone know if I am doing something wrong or any suggestion I can try? I am thinking about noise filter but not confident somehow that it would fix the problem.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Tino66)Sun, 12 Mar 2006 20:59:54 +0000
