Re: Interior Light

I am keen on this additional attachment but somewhat concerned as to ease or otherwise of the electrical part of the installation. So before committing myself I would like to know a little more.

Jalal recently said:quote "It is not hard at all to wire the positive wire to the interior light and am gonna do that soon." end quote.

To take power from the interior dome light fitting would mean threading a cable under the roof lining, or to take it from the door switch would mean a fairly messy job getting a cable to it also. I read that the door switch is the earth and that the bulb is always alive. Otherwise the workshop manual was not helpful.

I do not know where the light fitting cables are routed but someone else may know. Perhaps there is an easy spot under the dash where the power to the interior light can be picked up.

So ... I await a further report from Jalal with great interest, after he has corrected/redone his installation before making a firm commitment to purchase

Re: Interior Light

Hi John,

In my case the re-wiring is easy because I already have the LED door kick plates with wires and power coming from the centre cabin light, so for me it is only a matter of extending the positive wire from the light ring to the driver's LED door kick plate and hey presto.

In your case and for anyone that doesn't have the LED kick plates and would like for this light ring to operate when the door is opened, you would need to follow the LED Door kick plates installation instructions found HERE to run the wire/s

It may look like a big job, but removing the plastic trims is not that hard, the hardest part is fishing through the roof lining to get the end of the wire emoticon

As you said, if someone knows where the roof light fitting wires are routed under the dash or fuse panel, it may be an easier job indeed.

Re: Interior Light

Hi Jalal,
I will probably curse when I go to install the key ring, but will now confirm my order. Please let me know when you want the money.

Just thinking, can you tell me the price for the various kick plates available - powered and non-powered. The illustration in the "Shop" details for the LED one appeared different to that detailed in the installation details in that it says that those completely cover the plastic. Is this one available?
Many thanks.

No worries John. Installing the mods is half of the fun emoticon

Please email the On Line Shop for inquiries about the LED kick plates and the standard ones to keep this thread on topic.

Re: Interior Light

Hi Guys,

I have decided to change the colour of the key light to blue to match the theme of my dash dials. All it needed was a blue rubber cap on the bulb itself (found at any Repco store)

Re: Interior Light

What are the details of this rubber cap Jalal ? What does it look like ?

Could it be fitted to the dash bulbs to change their colour also ?

Re: Interior Light

Kev,

Its actually a silicone globe sleeve made by NARVA, see the whole range HERE

The smallest size at the top of this list is the one that will fit this globe.

Yes, I have used these sleeves to change the trip meter screen colour from orange to bright red, but as I stated previously in the "dash colour change thread" our dash dials have an orange filter from the factory, so it is not possible to change it to any other colour, expect red. Blue won't work for example.

Re: Interior Light

OK Guys,

Get your tools ready. I am getting the key light goodies next week.

I will be contacting each one of you who took part in this group-buy for payment today, so by the time your payment clears in the account, the part will be here and will be posted to you straight away.

There are still 4 of them left as I have ordered 10.
