Re: Interior Light

Like your photo Jalal, the camera lies.
The ring is not actually illuminated very brightly. emoticon
The spot of the 4 LEDs side-by-side is actually not as bright as it looks so a complete ring of LEDs should be fine.
If it is too bright with the correct voltage/LED then a resistor to lower the voltage should work as a dimmer.

Re: Interior Light

Still got that one bright spot on the circle, but it is a lot thinner than my home-made one will end up emoticon

As a guide Jalal, mine will cost about $12 to make ($2 for the plastic cup and $10 for the LED's) with some good soldering experience required.

Re: Interior Light

Nah Kev, I think its the way the photo is taken, genuine kits have the light spread-out perfectly for sure. In any case, am gonna order it and see. I have given-up on the home-made one cause no matter how precise the cut of the cup base will be, it still looks rough and doesn't give that "perfect" look and feel.

I have also attempted the clear PVC hose with 2 bright LEDs at each end and the problem with bright spots is still there.

After 5 attempts and numerous times of dismantling the steering covers, I have decided to stop, as it was leading me to nowhere and it started to damage the plastic covers.

Re: Interior Light

I have ordered the Genuine Nissan X-Trail ignition key light and it is on its way. Would be interested to see if it'll fit and work perfectly.

The cost of this Nissan part was around $38.00 (shipped)

Will keep you all posted.

Re: Interior Light

BINGO Guys! emoticon

The genuine nissan key light has arrived and what a perfect fit and awesome result emoticon

Took me about 10 minutes to fit the key light in place and wire it up to the steering light switch and it was all done.

Here it is straight out of the box

Image

In the following photos I have added the wires to the two pins of the bulb.

Image Image

Here it is attached in place before putting the steering covers back in place.

Image

Now with the steering covers on and the key light perfectly sits in place.

Image

Here is a pic of it in action in daylight

Image

I have covered the steering in a black towel just to see how it'll look like at night and the spread of light was perfect. I will post another pic tonight, so you can have a look.

Not a bad investment for $38 I reckon emoticon

Re: Interior Light

Thanks Brett. Its not my contacts that find this stuff, so I amaze myself sometimes emoticon

Paying attention to EVERY little detail on overseas model xtrails helps. hehehehe

The group-buy is now Open emoticon

Start registering your interest in this thread or we can create a dedicated thread for this (am happy either way)

Here are some pics of the key light in action at nighttime

Image Image Image

It comes with a globe that has a yellow cover, but it can be changed to any colour you like. I might change it to blue or red later on, but am very happy with it the way it is now.

P.S. The bright spot shown in the photo is only visible with a camera, the light is spread-out evenly across the entire ring
