HERE is an existing thread where I have posted the location of the airbag sensors and how they're triggered.
So Jalal, from reading the thread you mention, the service manual pics on page 2 shows there does not seem to be any frontal sensors, just the diagnostics box located under the seats. This must have some sort of decelerometer in it to know when to activate.
If so, why would there be any problem with the nudge bar ?

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
Kev,
The last section of Noel's article pretty much summed-up the concern I raised. We do have "satellite" sensors in our exy for frontal impact and these have been calibrated to activate with a certain strength of the moment of impact. With aftermarket nudge bars, not all manufacturers tested that this is exactly what will happen at the moment of impact. Understandably, the small manufacturers in China (where these nudges are being made) don't have the required research funds to implement such vigorous tests, as such, it is left to the first consumer involved in accident to find-out the reality and the quality of the product.
Do you want to be the first one to test this theory in an accident? I know damn sure I don't!!
This was one of the reason I went with my type of nudge because the factory in South Africa sell these nudges as OEM euipment directly to the dealers and car manufacturers and they have been tested for airbag functionality and certified to this effect.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
Thanks Noel & Jalal.
Not actually thinking of fitting a nudge to my Exy but reading the article raised my technical curiousity as it always does and the oportunity to learn something new is much appreciated.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
I might be back on the nudge bar idea. I`ve found THIS one and it`s certificated.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
Dave,
I can't read German but this certificate looks like something important LOL
You may also want to check-out THESE guys and compare prices between the two companies.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
I looked up TUV and it basicly said the certs confirm that the item as been tested to do what it`s supposed to do and not stop any thing else doing what that is supposed to do. If that makes sense So I`m thinking it means it wont interfeer with the airbags.
The ones you mentioned are way beyond my pocket.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
Well if that suppose to mean what you thought it suppose to mean, then I suppose you can buy it with confidence. hahaha
Ask someone to translate that certificate for you and look for the key word (Air Bag) in the translation.

Re: Nudge Bar Fittment
I know THIS says fish translations, but I use it for all sorts of things and it gives me a rough idea. So I`ll give it a try tomorrow. It`s bed time now.
