Auto window for passenger side

would love it if the drivers side control for the front passenger window had the auto function like the drivers one does.

Does anyone know if that is something in the actual switch (that would make the mod just way too easy). Or if I have to investigate further into how it is done fo r the drivers side and redo that for the passenger side. The auto switch does seem to have a couple of "click" points so I am hoping that I can just grab another one of these emoticon

Thanks

Re: Auto window for passenger side

Hi MrBob,
This is a great idea I have never seen a switch that works up and down automatically as the nissan one does but putting it in the passenger side I think a lot of people would be interested in this mod. Whilst the smart people are looking whether this could be done they might be able look at whether you can put a delay on the power so you can put your windows up after you have taken the key out, this would be handy.

Yes, I can confirm this is possible and I have seen it on one of our member's exy in action as a result of an alarm upgrade option emoticon

You need to get some sort of automatic window winder from Starthfield Car Radios for around $50 and it will wind your windows up as soon as you activate the alarm or lock your car.

It was pretty cool.

I have the part number for it at home, so I'll post it here later tonight.

In regards to the "auto" switch for the windows, on previous cars that had this "auto" button, it used to control ALL windows from the drivers side, so the driver was able to have all windows go up with a flick of one "auto" button. That would be the ideal solution I think and it is what I thought this "auto" button did when I first bought the exy, only to see it control the driver's side emoticon

Thanks Jalal,
But do you need the alarm to make it work. I had a similar alarm on my bluebird which locked you in when you started the car put your windows up when you pulled the key out plus locked the car after 30 seconds not good as I locked the keys in the car a lot.
I have gotten out of the car so many times and then realzied I forgot a window and have to put the key back in just to put it up, the crappydore has this feature but I do not know how it works whether its a capaciter or works the same way our interior light does and the power fades away after time.

Re: Auto window for passenger side

No worries Dave,

I think we're all in the same boat with forgetting the driver's side widow open when we leave the car. It has really frustrated me over the past 3 years too and I had to walk back to the car so many times just to make sure I had closed this damn window 8(

Anyway, here is the info. about the auto window lift, CYCLOPS CATALOGUE NUMBER:WIN 004. you can buy this at Strathfield Car Radio for $59.00

I don't think it requires an alarm, as it can be hooked-up to the ignition switch, so any electrician can do this for you.

I haven't had time to look at this in detail, but will for sure, so if anyone beats me to it, please make sure you give us an update.

I think this will be the most practical mod to do and will solve our frustration emoticon

Re: Auto window for passenger side

It wouldn't be that hard a task to install an interposing relay that is normally off when the ignition is on. When the ignition is switched off, this relay could activate the other relays (?) associated with the windows, or atleast provide a power source to them. It would need to be timed I suppose.

Haven't put a lot of thought into it yet, but might have a crack at it on the weekend.

Re: Auto window for passenger side

[edited repost from another thread]

Ok, I see I'm not the only one who can't remember to wind up the windows before turning the ignition off :-)

This is second on my Must Be Fixed(tm) list (key beep being first :-). In looking at the service manual, I was very surprised to find the following (p. GW-44):

    quote:

    TIMER FUNCTION
With the timer function, driver power window can be operated for approximately 15 minutes after ignition
switch is turned OFF (positions other than ON). However, the timer will be cancel when a specific signal, such
as driver door close (door switch OFF) → open (door switch ON), or ignition switch OFF → ON, is input.

This feature mustn't be fitted to Australian models?

Will keep reading the svc manual to see the best way of "refitting" it.

Ben

Re: Auto window for passenger side

Back to my initial query....

Yeah, I know I could have an alarm option installed (or just the module and have it activated via the central locking remote), but I was more just after the push the button down till it clicks and the passenger side window goes all the way down (and for back up too) - just to save me having to hold the button up or down (am I really that lazy??? mmm lol)

So if any of you wrecker regulars sees the window controller (from drivers door for all windows) could you get me a price??

Another thing I would love is to have the 2 buttons for the sunroof on the drivers door - so much more convenient if you ask me...

Oh well, perhaps a mod further down the track hehe

Thanks
