hot heaterbox and whiny clutch (or gearbox)

Hi people,

I've just discovered your forum and signed up straight away. There is a load of interesting X-Trail stuff.

I have a couple questions that I'm having no luck resolving through Nissan.

Firslty, I have a heaterbox that gets quite hot without the heater or aircon being on - has anyone experienced this? Nissan says this is normal.

Secondly, under acceleration from a standing start (and usually when the car has been driven a bit) the vehicle gets a whine in either the clutch or gearbox. Unfortunately, Nissan can't replicate the problem and have asked me to bring it in when it happens - it usually happens when were too far away from the dealership.

Grateful for your thoughts.

Hi Rohan and welcome to the forums.

What series xtrail is yours and where is that heater box you're describing?

I have no explanation for the gearbox sound either, as I have never heard this noise before.
