This is great!!

I only got one remote when I bought my car.

My Nissan dealer quoted almost $200 for a new remote and programming!

I watched eBay for a while (they seem to come along pretty regularly) and bought a secondhand one from there for $37 delivered. Just spent two minutes in the car following your instructions and ... yahoo! Now I have two working remotes.

Just had my wife's key reprogrammed (luckily still under warranty). I asked the Nissan tech if this was a common occurrence (my mates spare key to his Pathy also spat the dummie emoticon

), but of course he denied such a thing. He said that it was very rare for Nissan keys to need reprogramming. ha!

Well, after our son discovered a talent for putting everything in the dogs water bucket, including car keys and mobile phones, I purchased an Ebay keyfob for 35 bucks.
It has the boot release button, obviously not required in the xtrail, and it works just as it should after being reprogrammed.
Now we have a spare....for the next time emoticon

I pulled the other one apart and dried it out...still works suprisingly, as do the garage door remotes after a day in the sun.

Gotta love kids. And 35 bucks is cheap peace of mind, as far as I am concerned emoticon

You got lucky Dave, as it must have been one of the Australian Nissan remotes for a Murano or others. Had it been an overseas model remote you wouldn't have thanked your kids for it emoticon

Hey guys

the procedure listed in the start of this thread is something im keen to do.

I only got one remote when i bought the car and have recently just bought a blank key with transponder from Nissan.

I went and got the key cut and now just need to program the remote (as far as im aware).

Will the steps listed above allow me to get a 09 T31 to reprogram the transponder?

I got confused a bit when jalalski mentioned coding the fob AND coding the key so am not sure if doing the steps above is all ill need to do or if these steps are only for a T30 etc

Hi Luke,

I think this procedure will only work for the T30 which has a remote with buttons (the one that can be re-programmed) and it also has a transponder in the head of the ignition key (which needs a dealer to program).

In your case, I think you're trying to program an additional key with the transponder in it which requires the dealer to do it using Consult III as it need to be paired with the ECU of the car.

This is a great thread emoticon

When I bought my X-trail it came with 2 sets of keys and remotes, and at the time of buying it I just thought the other remote battery was flat emoticon

and I didnt try the other key.... well Now I discover that both the key and the remote is for another X-trail emoticon

what a bugger.

Now I will try and program the remote by this procedure, cheers.
I just need a key....

I take it the cheapy ($23) off ebay will do?
