You must use ORIGINAL KEY to start procedure 1. Sit in car lock all doors with power “switch lock on driver side door” 2. Using ORIGINAL key insert and remove key till doors UNLOCK within 8 seconds, usually insert and remove six times 3. Turn ORIGINAL key in ignition to ACC position (Do not start engine) 4. Lock all doors with “power door lock switch on Driver side door” 5. Press lock or unlock on NEW key this will match them up, if you have another key press lock or unlock as well, it will be programmed all keys to the same code. To exit program mode, turn the ignition OFF. UNLOCK the door using the driver side switch. Test fobs Ok I got a genuine Nissan key Fob and blank key for $115 NZD and tried the in and out 6 times at least with nothing that happened - no door unlock. Do you insert and remove as quick as you can or let the Xrail register the ignition every time (should it go click every time)? I used the key inside the original fob, will it work with this or do I have to get the key with the plastic on it which is a key only. My vehicle has never had the chimes when you are inside it with the door open etc, where is the "plug" found to ensure it isn't there and just needs re-connection for the process above to work? Thanks Andynondisclosed_email@example.com (Andygoodbloke)Wed, 25 May 2022 15:35:09 +0000 Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guidehttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099241,from=rss#post2099241https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099241,from=rss#post2099241Update on the above: For context I was receiving fault codes P1610 and P1612, replaced the IMMU and rekeyed the key with the pin in NDSII to haveit start straight away, though now it seems to lose the memory once the key is pulled out and away from the car and fault code P1614 then appears, preventing ignition again. I can re-enter the IMMU pin in NDSII and it starts still. Fault finding from the Service manual and NDSII manual tell me P1614 is a fault in the chain of IMMU-KEY. Does anyone know anything about the 'dongle' in RHD models of the T30 Xtrail immobilizer system? The schematics and fault finding refer to a 'dongle' wired into this system but I can't find any further information on its location appearance or function apart from the fact it is wired between the IMMU and the ECM which could be anywhere from the key barrel along behind the firewall and into the ECM behind the glovebox on the LHS. The fault finding also refers to performing an 'initialization' process with the NATS system with Consult II. Does anyone know if this is possible with NDSII? Any help, context or info would be appreciated. Is this only on the PC software? I've just installed a new immobiliser unit in my T30, simple swap out (which I got gouged from Nissan for) but don't have anywhere on the App to enter the new reprogramming PIN. Does anyone know if this is possible through the full NDSII App or it requires the full software? If not what is the Software and a PC ODBII adapter worth? May still be more economical than other options.. I'm a fair way from Nissan (would require a tow at this stage)and they're booked up for weeks, even for such a simple thing. Any local Auto Elec's haven't given me too much confidence they have done it before or can do it. The car came only with a key-in-lock key, and no remotes. (It also has no owner's manual. Sigh.) It's a bit of a pain to use as I have to stick the key in the driver's lock, and then hit the unlock button inside the door if I also want to open the passenger/tail gate locks - yeah, I know - first world problems, eh!? I've taken a copy of Jalalski's instructions on re-coding a remote, but want to know if this will work with a plain key + two new keys (maybe from a local locksmith who's cut the blades to match) that are un-programmed but have remotes in the fobs? The local Nissan dealer (Centralian Motors in Alice Springs) looked at me strangely when I drove there to ask questions, "I was 3 when that model came out, mate! I've got no idea." I need to organise a spare key as my mrs has misplaced the spare. Has anyone go through this for this model? There seems to be to many variables. So far I have worked out the following The key is a proximity key. Has a backup key also which I found out as a Chip 46 (transponder) and can work without the main proximity sensor to start the car. I was going to buy a blank key (traditional) and have it cut but it seems I still need a transponder. I noticed eBay sell transponder chip 46. However will this still need to be programmed and if so how? I have also found out that the proximity key need to be brand new and not second hand. In summary what’s the cheapest option for my model to get a spare? nondisclosed_email@example.com (borg81)Fri, 02 Nov 2018 07:03:35 +0000 Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guidehttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094838,from=rss#post2094838https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094838,from=rss#post2094838Dear All, The only intelligent key of my ex Japan Nissan X Trail 2008 Modle NT31 2,5 Litre X grade was lost three weeks ago at a friends garage. We had to find a locksmith who opened the door. Cut a new small key (Bought from Nissan) that goes into the smart key remote. Programmed the chip using his handheld machine. We did not buy the remote as the locksmith said that old remote of similar type will work. He programmed a remote which is Nissan but has three buttons (Mine had two buttons). This new remote has managed to work except only one feature. One can no longer move the ignition unless you remove the small metal key from the fob and insert into ignition. It does not recognize that remote is in the car and allow the ignition to turn to ACC to On and start without inserting the small key. One can lock and unlock the doors by either pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the fob or black plastics on the doors and boot. I have also noticed that if i use the key in the morning or if the car was parked for a while, it takes a few presses before it works to open. The lock smith says that it is strange as when the fob is programmed, that function should work too. I will appreciate if someone can shed some light or give some ideas. I have also spoken to Nissan dealer tech who works on Consult III and showed him the codes that were used by lock smith. He promised that he will look at the programming using Consult but he didn't get chance to do so till now. A bit disappointed as i would want to restore my smart key function. Your car doesn't know one key from the other. Both keys appear identical to the car. They charge an extortionist $140-$160 for 2 minutes work, (Put original key in cloner machine, read original and save code, remove original and put new key in cloner, clear new key, write original key code to new key, done.) Using this method you can have as many keys as you like because the immobiliser thinks they are all the same key anyway and doesn't know the difference as all keys have the same code. Nissan use the Consult II Software to program each different key chip code into the car immobiliser, limited to a total of 4 different key codes at a time from what I can see. They need to get the immobiliser date code and encrypted PIN code off the immobiliser, put this into a decryption program in the Nissan Mainframe and get the PIN code, then go into the Consult software and using the PIN code, have the immobiliser 'learn' the transponder chip codes for each key, and save.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wiz Au)Thu, 27 Jul 2017 19:41:07 +0000 Re: Programming Transponder Key chip / immobilserhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094212,from=rss#post2094212https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094212,from=rss#post2094212A little bit more info. So the local dealer says they can't give me what another Nissan tech calls the "POIJ codes for keys" as that would breach their delaer agreement. But I argued "It's MY car, I own it, Nissan have no right to withhold this information from me". To which we both agreed I could contact Nissan myself and see if they will supply it directly to me. It also appears the majority of the 30-60min labour charge for programming the Transponder chip keys to the Immobiliser is to get this code from Nissan. Actually programming the keys only takes 5 mins. (Connect cable, start software, hit ‘Re-program’, enter PIN (POIJ) code, put key in ignition, turn on for 5 seconds, turn off & remove key, next key in, turn on for 5 sec, turn off, done.) My source also said that Consult II sometimes doesn't need the POIJ code, it just "does it". Makes me think Consult II has the codes in a database and looks up the code automatically when it gets the ECU/VIN from the car on interrogation when first connected? That or it just has a special "bypass/master" code?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wiz Au)Mon, 24 Jul 2017 22:55:19 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094207,from=rss#post2094207https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094207,from=rss#post2094207Yeah that's different but I doub;t Nissan will give it to you. There is software available that does more than just program the key...it does nearly everything Consult II does but only works on the ECU of the XTrail, not the TCU or ABS,etc. It's called Nissan DataScan II and it's $70 which is quite reasonable for what it does. It does NOT work with an ELM Bluetooth OBD II device, because it uses older protocols. It uses a VAG-COM KKL 409.1 cable, of which I am lucky I already have because my 2003 BMW motorbike uses the same protocols. But you need to know the security PIN for the ECU! I have seen locksmiths advertise they can get this PIN and include it in their charge. That's why it costs so much to have a transponder chip key programmed to the vehicle, because they spend time finding the ECU PIN...but HOW? Do they contact Nissan, do they have a Database somewhere they can look up, does it work off an encryption code using the VIN? I know I have the radio PIN, and maybe the ECU PIN is there too. But if it's not, does anyone know how I get ythe ECU Security PIN for the vehicle...from Nissan??nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wiz Au)Mon, 24 Jul 2017 12:38:09 +0000 Re: key chip & ecu programming?https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094162,from=rss#post2094162https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094162,from=rss#post2094162Does anyone know if I have a bluetooth OBD II tool, is there software I can get (like the Locksmiths use?) so I can program the ECU for a new key transponder chip? I'd also be very interested in reading any information if I can get on an 'All-in-one' key of any description. While both of the keys supplied with the vehicle were coded to the immobiliser (they would both start the car). Only the remote on one of them would un/lock the doors. I tried Jalals methods in the DIY section and it did't function, however after about the 6th insertion of the key; the doors locked. This made me follow Jokeraus's instructions on page 4 of this thread and it worked (although it did take a number of attempts for some reason). I now have 2 fully functioning remote keys. Jalal, maybe the directions in Jokeraus's post on page 4 could be added to the DIY guide for the T31 models? Or a note that if the rapid insertion of the keys in the ignition causes the doors to lock rather than the hazards to flash to try the alternate method? I have checked the Battery which is 3.04v - I have taken it to a Locksmith and had him identify if the Remote is producing a Signal when a Button is pressed. It does produce a signal, but with no Frequency - a Flat line signal. The Spare Remote does produce a proper Frequency Signal. I would think from this, the Faulty Remote may require programming, although I cannot understand why it would have become defective by losing its program. I have tried to use the Procedure on your Page "Courtesy Parts, ID Code Entry" and cannot get the Hazards Lights to Flash after inserting the Key into the Key Cylinder 6 or more times. It would appear this procedure is not for my Remote. Is there a procedure for these later Remotes?????
