Where to find *3-Way Toggle Switch with LED*?

Hi Guys,

I have looked all over for a 3-way (on-off-on) toggle switch which has an LED and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I have tried Narva, Hella, Repco, Jaycar and Powerhouse and none of them seem to have it.

Is such a switch available at all or am I wasting my time for nothing?

FARNELL COMPONENTS might have what you're looking for.

I wonder how long it took for you to find it - I changed my post three times, each time altering the URL to give a more precise search emoticon

So, what do you need the switch for, or is it top secret? emoticon

I foud it straight away when I used the top search field, however am not sure if it's 12 volt, as the specs of it don't make sense to me at all.

10 A @ 125V ac, 6A @ 250 V ac

It's not top secret at all emoticon I wanna use this switch for the new air horn.

It doesn't really matter if you use an "AC" switch on a "DC" circuit - it just means that it wont last as long, but in the situation you're going to use it, it's not going to make any difference at all.

Oh, is the switch you're using for the "control" circuit (ie: to latch a relay) or is it going to be switching the full load current of the air horns? I believe the air horn's compressor draws over 10A (I used to have some in a previous car).

Rich,

The air horn is rated at 18A

Am gonna use this switch to toggle between the factory and air horns.

I guess it's no good emoticon

Re: Where to find *3-Way Toggle Switch with LED*?

I am assuming that the air horn is 18A @ 12V hence using the calculation:

P(power in Watts) = V(voltage) x I(current)
18A x 12V = 216W <--- air horn power

If the switch is rated to 10A @ 125V then
10A x 125V = 1250W <--- that's what the switch can handle.

hence you should be OK using that switch for 18A @ 12V as you will be no where near the power rating of it ... correct me if my calculations or reasoning is wrong ... it's been a while since I have done this sort of stuff, but I'm pretty sure you would be OK.
