Re:

That slot is used for the ESP/VDC switch in the UK and Canadian models, so if you want to keep the same look you would have to hunt the ESP switch from one of those countries and then wire it up to suit your needs.

Could I just source the button next to it and install upside down? So the pattern is the same?

Re:

I don't think you can as the Demister button has square edges unlike this one which is rounded at the top corner.

Re:

Sorry, I meant the demister as well, the 4WD Lock is on the other side. The demister button has 4 square edges, so it won't fit this slot. You can try.

Re: wiring spot/driving lights

I am thinking of installing driving lights an have a couple of questions. What wattage are the genuine nissan lights, i think i have read 100w somewhere can someone confirm this? Next what other brands have people used around the same size as genuine. Nissan want well over $400 to just supply the kit but i was thinking of getting the genuine harness kit for an easy plug in install and original look for around $100 and the getting my own decent brand lights like narva, hella or other for less than nissan supply them for. Interested in what others have done and their thoughts thanks.

Well you can get a decent set of Narva 225's for around the $300 mark, might be a bit large for an Xy though
Lightforce are a good light but are a bit dearer than the Narva's.
A 175 is an ideal size for an Xy.

Re: wiring spot/driving lights

Wanting to hear from people that have the genuine nissan (IPF) driving lights. Or what are peoples thoughts on these, remembering they are a cheaper light than lightforce.

Re:

My stock IPF lights are good enough for my frequent country highway travel. They show just enough of the road side to see the animals or their eyes although I do want to get some spread beams for more of the roadside. Captures the reflectors off the markers very nicely for a good distance. Not sure how far but far enough to see where the road's going. Angle of the lights will determine how far of the road surface ahead can be seen. I'm still mucking around with the angle to get the best visibility.

I like them, they seem better than the IPF spot lights as they are a broader beam and you can see the sides of the road quite well.
