Re: Cleaning Factory wheel covers

Hi adam74,

And Welcome to the Forums.

Funny you say this, I was almost about to buy a can of wheel and tyre cleaner yesterday from the "Warehouse" here in Cairns, but didn't bother because I cleaned my exy last week and my tyres are still clean. It was a spray on/hose off application, and about $4.75 per can.

The other device I find very usefull over every other thing out there to clean your vehicle is a sheepskin mitton, honestly these are brilliant.

Please feel free to visit the Introductions section of the forum, and tell us more about yourself when you have time: Introductions

Re: Cleaning Factory wheel covers

Hi Noel,

Thanks for the reply mate.

We are located in Cairns too!

I have visited these forums before, but lost my username. I found the site after someone popped a biz card on my car in one of the shopping centres here.

The pic below was taken earlier this year up in the misty mountains on our first off road trip in the brand new X-Trail emoticon

In regards to the wheel cover cleaner....
I have tried scrubbing the hell out of it with soapy water, tried a chrome cleaner / polish all to no avail.

Can anyone recommend a product that may remove the brake dust stains ?

Hi Adam,

The business card on your windscreen must have been a good effort of Noel. hehehe emoticon

He loves shopping centres LOL

I'll let you know the name of the spray I have sitting in the garage and it's for brake dust removal (i.e. not trye or alloy wheels shine)

OK Adam,

The stuff is called "Brake Dust Repellent" and it's made by Micheline.

Re: Cleaning Factory wheel covers

Hi Jalal,

I popped on into Big W yesterday to find that product. It was there for about $20.

However beside it on the shelf was a can of "5 star wheel cleaner" for $1.86 !

I thought what the hell, worth a try. Sprayed it on, quick wipe with a soft cloth, hosed it off.... It worked a treat as my wheel covers look spanking new emoticon

I'm sure the product you recommended is better, but for $1.86 you cant go wrong !

Re: Cleaning Factory wheel covers

Thanks for the update Adam.

Am glad it worked and you have solved the problem.

Of course you can't go wrong for that price; you could buy 20 cans of that cleaner and still be a head LOL

I only bought this expensive stuff to actually stop the brake dust from accumulating on my wheels, as the factory brake pads were shocking in this regard.

I only used it once and it worked fine, however since then I have discovered a good alternative for the factory brake pads which produce no brake dust at all (or very minimal), so I have no need for this spray anymore either.

Well done!

Hi Jalal,

Do you have any details on those brake pads ?

Might have to get Nissan to pop em'in on the next service.

Re: Cleaning Factory wheel covers

Sure do Adam.

check THIS for details and part numbers.

Noel can help you locate them in Cairns too, as he recently bought the front and rear sets.

As for Nissan fitting them in for you...why?

Save your money and do it yourself emoticon

HERE is the DIY Guide I have put together for this.

Good luck.
