Poor Radio reception and fan speed?
Hi guys, had our Xtrail now for a couple of weeks. Have noticed a couple of nuiances though, the stereo reception is pretty crappy. The FM stations get a bit staticy anywhere round metro Sydney which I find strange. Do any of you guys suffer the same problem. Moved the antenna backwards and forwards with no success.
Also the fan speed for face and feet seems pretty weak for face. Change it to face only and its fine. Is this normal ?
Cheers!

Yep, I experienced that too and I have tried 2 nissan head-units. The radio reception is worse with the 6CD stacker of the Ti-Luxury. The ST head unit seemed better in terms of radio reception.
I have solved this problem by replacing the roof antenna altogether.

At 45 degrees in Sydney, the only way to get good amount of cold air and feel it is to have the fan set-up to "face" only. Any other setting and you'll be sweating LOL
The exy poor air-con has been complained about before. Nothing much we can do in this regard unfortunately.

Re: Poor Radio reception and fan speed?
Glad to say ours (ST series 1) gives good reception (it is always on AM 774) - my passenger couldn't believe we were still listening to 774 without any difficulty nearly to Brisbane on our recent trip. In northern Victoria we used to have to change to the local FM station when we crossed gap hill in the commodore: now we can just leave it alone (most times). Those aerials look cool though.
As for the airconditioning - ours is always on face, and there does seem to be hardly any air if you do turn it to feet and face.
A packet of jubes in the glove box and jelly snakes in the centre console melted into blobs last week though; perhaps that's because it was 47 in the shade where we were on New Year's Eve.

Re: Poor Radio reception
I have never been satisfied with the radio reception in marginal areas. It is not as good as my old VS Calais or my Commodore ute.
With Roger's (Canadas FarEast) help I replaced the antenna, but sadly, any improvement was hard to notice. However, the new chrome antenna looks heaps better than the original.
I finally bought a Signal Amplifier from Super....p for $21.48, and fitted it.
I connected the red wire to the red wire going into the cigarette lighter and the antenna cable into the back of the radio. The original antenna lead goes into this unit.
The new unit was mounted under the dash and can be switched on or off by pushing the red light/switch.
I am not sure yet of any improvement as I have not been in any marginal areas to test it. However, it does not change the volume at all whether it is on or off.
I will give a further report when I know whether or not to leave it in or to remove it.
