Re: UHF CB radios
Here is a pic of mine.
It doesn't quite fit widthways having a gap either side which would allow for a made-up bracket to run along side the radio to mount the mic if you wanted to so you don't have to screw holes in the dash.
I know you would get a smaller unit in the pocket (i think someone here has already done that) but you wouldn't get a full din size in is what i was meaning.

Re: UHF CB radios
Yes, as I said before I have the UH089SX, I forgot that i changed it over from my old 88 a while back.
Its a good 10cm or so narrower, and about 5-6cm thinner.
I'll see if it fits in the slot, only prob, no front facing speaker, so i'll have to make a line balancer to patch into the audio somehow.

Re: UHF CB radios
I only use my UHF when off-roading, so I haven't got it permanently fixed to avoid worrying about the security aspect and have one less gadget in the car to worry about, so I have run the power and antenna cables to the passenger side foot-well area and just plug in the UHF and leave it there when needed.

Re: UHF CB radios
Yeah mine will be in frequent use, on and off road, so a permanent fixture is a better option.
But I figure if it's not readily visible from a glance therough the window, these ingenious local theives may see less value in breaking a window.

Re: UHF CB radios
Justin
Another option is to take the car to a metal fabricater and ask them to weld another driving light bracket to one side of your nudge bar for your ariel to mount to. I think it will cost around $40-$50 and will look neat.
