Cabin Light Wiring Harness-Series II- Pls. Help

Hi Guys,

Can I please ask one of you with a Series II exy for a big favour if you don't mind?

I need photos of the wiring harness and wire colours of both the centre roof cabin light and the one above the rear view mirror (map light).

On Series I it comes off very easily as soon as I take the plastic lens off to gain access to 3 screws. (I think they're fitted the same way on Series II)

Also, can you please let me know the function of the above mirror cabin light? i.e. does it come on when you open the doors (along with the centre light) or it's like Series I (only used as a map light at a push of a button)

Thanks for your help.

Depending on the information I get, I might be able to bring-in a nice accessory for your exy's (and mine of course) emoticon

Re: Cabin Light Wiring Harness-Series II- Pls. Help

Hi Guys,

My fears have been confirmed (thanks to Adam who sent me the photos).

The front light (above the rear view mirror) is in fact differently configured between Series I and II.

Series I: The front light has two globes which are used as map lights at a push of a button. They're off all other times.

Series II: The front light has two globes which can be used as either, map light OR door light, which comes on when the door is opened. instead of push buttons it has an On, Off and Door switch.

The big question now, is there a difference between Series II ST and Ti?

The accessory I had in mind connects and draws power from the roof light, however and in this case it would only fit the Series II Ti.

Am working on a different wiring solution for this accessory and when all tested and done, I will let you guys know emoticon

Thanks for the info. this now confirms that the accessory I had in mind would only connect to the series II Ti.

Back to the drawing board to make the wiring solution universal for all models.

Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated.

Hi Jalal,

My series II ST-X front light comes on when the doors are opened, and can also be turned on manually which seems more like the Ti rather than the ST. Hope this confuses you even more!

Hmmm. Thanks for that Matt, it seems that any exy which has the sunroof option would have the front lights configured to come-on with the door or be switched on.

Based on the feedback and information I received from you guys, this "acceossory" will now be modified to work with ALL xtrails and the power will be drawn from somewhere else emoticon Stay tuned, as I'll be testing it on my exy very soon.
