Re: how fast ?

It might be MPH as he is driving on the R/h side of the road.
That would make his speed around the 230 mark. emoticon

I tried to read the sign but can't make it out.
Could be in South Africa maybe looking at the plate.

Re: how fast ?

Any ideas on the turbo diesel?

I've done some high speed runs in the NT back in 2001 - it's rather interesting to be doing 175kmh holding it flat in a 4.5 petrol GU Patrol......

Pretty steady & stable but takes some concentration when everything is happening that fast, but you pass caravans real quick emoticon

My current drive, that is going in just over a week for the XTrail - Mazda 3 MPS - is reputed to be limited at 250kph, never been there, but I know it goes like a scalded cat when I go to overtake a B double from 80kph uphill, back off before you pass the truck cab doing a number I won't name emoticon

In Indonesia, all the Exy would run at 140-160 kph in freeway. (That's including my Exy)
And we have a rival in freeway, it's Honda CR-V and Suzuki Grand Vitara.
All these three vehicles would race each other in freeway.
Of course, the Exy will come out as the WINNER !! emoticon

Re: how fast ?

I wonder how the CVT transmission handles sustained high speed.

I know many cars have a high top speed, but their Auto Transmission literaly explodes (ie Shatters) if you try and sustain 150+ for any length of time.

Image

Just one steel belt with 400 rigid elements in push mode has incredible forces at work pushing an XTrail at 160km/h - fuel mileage at that speed says it all regarding the power needing to be transmitted.

Maybe it's fine - just wondering.

Re: how fast ?

My exy can go 190 kph ( according to the gps coz the meter showed 210 kph ) it was it's maximum - I pushed the accelerator pedal to maximum and held it that way quite long - after a while it stopped accelerating at that speed. The handling wasn't bad as for this speed. BTW the test was compleetly legal as there are no speed limits on german highways emoticon

Re: how fast ?

I have to say I took mine up to 165kph, on a race track, and but I was honestly too scared to stay at that speed or go faster, I have a Series 1 Ti (no mods) and I could have pushed it further but again I would rather be alive to keep driving my baby rather then die in it.

but I also have people trying to race me alot, a supra, a 2006 boxster and a few others and I have never lost :P
mind you the kids in the Supra really didnt know when to change gears and the old man *cough* I mean mature man was a bit upset that an xtrail owned his Porsche.

Re:

T31 diesel will max out at roughly 175 on the gps, approx 190 on the speedo. it's not fully accurate as the clutch seems to slip at anything over 3500 rpm in 4th gear onwards. i.e. revs will seem connected up till 3500 then spike up to 4000 rpm as if not connected to anything. releasing the pedal and depressing slowly seems to bring the revs down, then when full throttle is applied again, same thing happens, revs spike up. so yes i've had 6th gear on full throttle, and the top speed is limited by the gear ratios.

Whew...some road....Max speed in Oz is 110km/h on marked highways/Motorways/freeways etc.
A max of 100kp/h is default elsewhere.

cheers
