Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

Hi Guys,

I have now received the sunroof deflector and I will be testing it on Adam's (Rybky) exy end of this week or early the next.

Will post pics when it's done and advise pricing.

There is another visor that will be tested as well, so stay tuned for that one emoticon

Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

Hi Guys,

Decided to take my exy for a photo shoot today and met-up with Shane76, so it was an excellent opportunity to test fit the sunroof visor/deflector.

It fitted perfectly in place and there are provisions for excess water to run from the front edge of the deflector.

It provide a great barrier against wind and also serves as a great sunvisor when looking at it from inside the car.

Personally, I think it's a winner, but I'll let Shane make his final comment on it as he has the sunroof (not me) LOL

It has the X-TRAIL logo on it too.

Thanks Jalal,

I would recommend this awesome deflector to all of you exy lovers out there with sunroofs.

It really does look awesome on the car and as Jalal said it looks equally as good from the inside.

It is very well made and is a top mod for our exys.

Thanks to Jalal for the oppertunity to model it all for you. emoticon emoticon

Shane, is that properly fixed to your car? Have you driven at speed it on and the roof open?

Just wondering, other than how it looks, how it performs.

Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

I picked one of these up from Jalal this week and have fitted it to my exy.

Have had no difficulties fitting it and it stuck down very well. I pushed it down as hard as I could and it is now stuck fast in place.

The noise reduction from wind going through the deflector would be around 60 -70% quieter. There was some minor buffetting around the 70kph mark with the sunroof wide open but other then that it is a great improvement.

I took it up to 140kph on the freeway with no one around to see how it would go and it was fine, no flexing or movement at all.

I would recommend one to anyone with a sunroof.

Cheers,

Lachie

Yeh I can confirm the effectiveness of the deflector.

Had the sunroof fully open at 80kph and not one hair on my mother's head was blown out of place while sitting in the rear seat
(she is very fussy about her hair being blown around in the car emoticon )

Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

thank you jalal for taking the time to fit my sunroof deflector and give me an x-trail education at the same time.

With the roof closed, it has virtually eliminated any noise which is great for freeway driving.

With the roof wide open, I agree there is buffeting at around the 70km ph but mine is pretty strong(inside cabin noise)

I was wondering whether my roof racks were in the way of the deflection when the roof is open.

Has anybody noticed the difference with roof racks on or off when using the deflector

ps: Thanks again to Jalal for taking time out to give me a hand, cheers, Bill

Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

Hi Bill,

You're welcome and I bet by 90% that it is the roof racks causing this.

Try to take them off and drive around without them to see if that makes a difference.

You also need to remember that if you drive with only the sunroof open and all windows closed on a freeway, you will get in cabin noise for sure due to air pressure build-up.

Its the same if you drive around with one window open at high speed, you'll get that strong humming noise.

Re: Sun roof wind deflector ?

Hi Bill,

Do you have a Series 1 or 2 ?
The roof racks are different.

I have a Series 1 and most of my wind noise came from the gaps on the inside of the roof rails because the rack mounting feet fit poorly.
After I applied some tape as shown here the noise was mostly decreased except for what I get from the tie-downs on the roof racks.
