Re: CD Player TI-L- MP3's and stereo question
The Nissan book says that their standard head unit in the series 1 ST will automatically switch to aux when a signal is detected on the line in. This seems to indicate that there are places in the wiring on the back for line in to which it should be possible to connect an input line to plug in your portable mp3 player etc. I thought I remembered someone in the phone thread referring to an adapter that could be used for this. If the phone can be connected to the unit so it plays through the speakers, why couldn't the player?
The mute function would only quieten the stereo so you can hear the phone; there needs to be a line in for the sound.

Re: CD Player TI-L- MP3's and stereo question
Yes Dave, you're correct, I mentioned this adapter before but it was specific to the NOKIA Phone Kit.
I also found another adapter on the net for this purpose.
Let me have a look at the wiring diagram on the CD Manual to see if I can work-out which cable/wire it is for the sound input. This would be the perfect solution if its true.

Re: CD Player TI-L- MP3's and stereo question
Bluey, so you have an Alpine head unit in an '05 X-Trail, that is interesting!
How did you do this? The standard stereo (in dash changer) is huge but the Alpine units are standard size, how did you mount it? Or is there an Alpine unit the right size to replace the stock unit??
I am interested in the Alpine units as they have iPod interface.
Any details on model of unit you have would be appreciated, also pics if you can get them.
Thanks!
