Re: Head Unit install

Hi Jal,
Not too bad as there is already a short 'wiring adapter' Between the loom (strange colours) and the (old) head unit, which changed the colours to the universal(?) ones. (red, yellow, orange, blue and green, purple, grey and white(speakers)) I just soldered into them. However the speakers needed changing a bit as they were left/right Front/rear reversed. It also came with a special flat bezel for Nissan's!! Just need a camera and the sat Nav dvd player and the blue tooth phone adapter and the playstation and the ...... emoticon

Oh and go in to JB HiFI (are they national?) Say 'I'm not paying $1799!' and you'll get it for $1545.

Re: Head Unit install

Mmmm...

Nice head unit. What brand and model is it?

It's amazing what they can do these days...

I take it that it's a touch screen display? I like the "Lawnmower Man" background. I assume you can download/change all the screen backgrounds, menu colours etc via plugging into a PC or downloading via a CD-ROM (has it got CD/DVD in it?)

Re: Head Unit install

Hi over in the UK I have the DDX-6029 what I am after is the thin bezel you seem to have on yours I now you stated it came with your 6039. But did you also have the slightly thicker one that you see used in the Kenwood advertising photos any idea were I could get the thin bezel from as I only installed the stereo a couple of weeks ago and this will really finish it off.

I am currently waiting for a company over here to manufacture a harness adapter so you can use the steering wheel audio controls if you have them on the Australian version hopefully not more then a few weeks from being made! That’s for a 2005 X-trail that has 3 connectors into the stereo. They already produce one for the 2003 to 2004 models. Thanks for any help.

Re: Head Unit install

Yep there was 2 in the box, the one in the web site/brochure photo's etc which goes over the unit after it has been installed and and a flat one that goes over the unit before you put the nissans facia back on.

If you go to kenwood.com and select usa you can download the install manual for the 6019 which shows you what came in my box. Page 7 is the one you want.

Re: Head Unit install

Hi have looked this up. Seen this manual before did you cut out a bezel to fit from the large over sized one supplied. Item 4 in the installation manual. If so its very neat cutting sorry if I am barking up the wrong tree.

Re: Head Unit install

Ha no , it looks butchered, but its bigger than the hole and the car's dash piece goes over it so you can't see the edges.

Re: Head Unit install

I have decided to go for the Clarion max667VD , has nice ipod features which i will be mainly using audio and video, and also a non clunky interface that runs at full speed, unlike the 1st HU's that have ipod support.

Concluded if I want GPS might just get another unit to sit on the dash at a later date.

RRP for this is $2199, can generally be had through autobarn etc for around $1599ish. Picked up a bargin on ebay for $990 delivered emoticon this is not an import, it is the Australian model.

If anyone else is interested there are a few still for sale on ebay through the guy i bought mine off :

this one for auction starting at 600

two for sale at buy now price $999

I should get mine either today or tomorrow, will post pics up of the install when done emoticon

cheers

mark
