Re: baby seats!

We have just had the "opportunity to practice" emoticon with family members over a period of a week, and gone from no baby seat, to one baby seat.....to two baby seats..... and back to none. Loved the Exy, handled everything perfectly...
Can get them in and out in a minute...however emoticon I have been told for the baby capsule (new born and facing rearwards), a strap will extend from the capsule over the passengers front seat headrest (as well as the satndard anchor and seat belt points)
Is this the case?

No Dave.

The standard seatbelt in the rear seat holds the capsule to the seat and the capsule strap runs from the front of the capsule, back over the capsule, over the rear seatback and anchores to the point in the cargo bay behind the rear seat.

There are three of these anchor points behind the rear seat, each covered with a plastic clip-cover.

Re: baby seats!

Hey people,
I to will be fitting a baby seat soon, I am also thinking of getting a cargo barrier mainly to keep the dog in the back, has anyone had any problems with the two combined? I have also read about a half barrier, would this be more suited with the baby seat?

Hey Dan,

Yes, you can fit the cargo barrier and child seats, as they use 2 different attachment points.

I currently have the Milford Cargo Net installed, which in my opinion, is a much better option for the light weight Xtrail. Easy to fit DIY and available from Opposite Lock.

I have 2 child seats in the rear and everything is attached to rated points.

 Good luck with it.

Re: baby seats!

Hi Dan,

I have the cargo barrier and depending on what type of dog you have is probably better suited to keeping it in the back than a cargo net.

I have had both the barrier and a baby seat fitted together. The baby seat strap feeds through one of the barrier net holes so that it can attach to the anchor point in the back.
If you have difficulties I can post a pic for you to illustrate.

Re: baby seats!

Having just done all this.....

The Xtrail T31 is great with car seats. We have the Safe & Sound Meridian and it fits the T31 TL beautifully, barely impacting on the front seat space.

I have used a 600mm extension strap, this sits just over the top of the seat back, so making swapping the car seat over a bit easier as I have the full Nissan Cargo Barrier. (The strap runs through the barrier fine, just saves having to walk around and hook it up (which is a bit tight with the barrier installed but doable).

Reclining the back seat a bit helps with room too when the seat is in the baby mode.

Much better than the previous car (Mazda 3 MPS) where the car seat required the front passenger seat to be almost all the way forward.

Re: baby seats!

We've also been thinking to buy a Safe & Sound Meridian model at the moment, as our first baby will arrive in 3 months. The shop that we are going to buy the baby car seat, they will fit it for free. One problem I have to deal with when having the baby car seat fitted is that I have to cut the rear carpet mat for the anchor points. They should have designed the carpet mat with the 3 pre-make square cuts emoticon

Dont get overly concerned with this, Have exactly the same seat for my three month old and carpet just folds up slightly without any real impact. Once you have the pram, the baby bag, the toys, blankets etc etc etc in the back you will not even notice it!! emoticon

Can post a pic If you want to see how it looks.

Cheers,
Andy
