Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

Yes Brett, it is possible to incorporate the alarm with the factory remote, however the features offered by such an alarm system are VERY limited to what a new stand-alone alarm can offer and for that reason, it'll be more beneficial to forget the factory remote all together.

I have been putting off this project for ages now, but I have done all the required research for all the available ones out there.

Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

After learning that x-trail parts are becoming hard to come across and the fact that the numbers of x-trails being stolen in increasing, I am starting to think an alarm upgrade is on the cards. Jalal, please pass on ANY information you have on this issue as the current x-trail security is pretty second rate.

Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

Brett,

Check BlackWidow

If I install an alarm, it'll be this one with all the options and I would also ask for an addition of the auto-windows up on alarm activation.

Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

Hi all,

You might like to check this lot out.DYNAMCO
I have the Cyclops Paralyser 785, and I can tell you it is the goods. They have an extensive range, all to Aus Standards. Mine has breaking glass sensors, and a host of other features, most of which I forget, (oldtimers). They have agents across Aus. Their service and support is second to none, a very professional crowd.

Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

I would add something like this to an alarm as well ...

CarMinder

There are some alarms with built-in SMS feature but this unit actually gives you the GPS location of the vehicle as well! emoticon

Re: Alarm Upgrade Question

Hey guys...

I've been away for a few weeks so sorry for the late info...

Straight up... Steer clear of Black widow alarms. They are bloody awful when compared to their peers.

The best "quality-for-dollar" alarm getting around at the moment is the viper 1000. I've used it and many of the big dollar stereo cars use them and their big brothers as well. Black widow have a reputation for not working right at the time when they're needed. Im also told, the black widow system is fairly easy to get around.

Finally, like mentioned previously, it is all about the installation. Steer clear of your cheap and nasty strathfields or jb hifi's. Find yourself a reputable car audio dealer and spend the few extra dollars to get it done properly.

In Sydney, I would head to Precision Car Audio in Carlton. I was down there the other week and was very impressed by the workshop and quality of installation there. Speak to George and tell him woody from Qld sent you.,...
