Warranty status

Hi,

Just Picked up our new-ish X-Trail ST-X with 7000km on the clock. I was advised by the dealer that I would be able to keep the remainder of the warranty is this correct?

Also The car should have had a service at 1000km and 5000km but the last owner failed to have these carried out. Would this Void any Warranty anyway?

Re: Warranty status

You would need to do a warranty transfer in your name so you can take benefit of the remainder of the warranty.

To do that you will need to contact Nissan Head-Office and advise them of your purchase, so they can update their database. Ask them to send you a copy of it for your records.

Missing the 1000km is no big deal, as this is a complimentary service which nissan offer to do minor check-ups on the car for any problems "you" tell them about.

The 5000km service is not a requirement as well, as long as the car will be serviced at the 10,000km mark.

I service my exy every 10,000kms and this is what I've been recommended by nissan for my type of driving.

Try (03) 9797 4111 instead. This is the head-office number, but you may be asked to leave a message and they usually call back within an hour (if not you have to call them again)

Just say you wanna do "Warranty Transfer"

Good luck.

Re: Warranty status

cheers Jal

Well after my 3rd buzz and no retuned phone call I finally got through to somebody…. (A Very nice lady)

The way it goes with Warranties is the warranty stays with the car not the owner, you don’t have to inform Nissan of the change but they do like to keep up to date with current owners. And As Jal said missing the 1000 and 5000km service is no big deal, but make sure the 10,000 one is carried out, she suggested I get it done now.

cheers

Re: Warranty status

When we bought ours (at 33,000 or so) I sent in a cut out transfer of ownership form from the service booklet, and that seemed to do the trick. David M.

6 Month Servicing Intervals

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I have received a service reminder from my dealer.

In it, it was stated that their records show my car was up for the scheduled 6 months service interval or the nominated km's.

I have rang the dealership to advise that I have only done 2,000km's since my last service 6 months a go and if I could have it postponed.

The answer was, nope! if you miss the scheduled 6 month service interval; your nissan warranty will be void.

There solution was to book my car in for the interim 5,000km service instead, so I could still retain my servicing intervals and not jeopardise my warranty (I still have 7 months of it left).

So, am gonna be charged something like $190 for an oil and filter change!

How ridiculous is this?

A mate at work suggested that this 6 month servicing policy (no matter how many km's you have travelled) is in place, due to the oil loosing it's viscosity in that time-frame no matter if the car was used or not, so am not sure how true is this statement, as I thought oil can only loos it's viscosity when used.

So guys, it seems that those of us still under warranty need to stick to servicing schedule, even if your exy is sitting in the garage (which mine isn't)

I would get clarification from Nissan HQ. Mine has missed two services yet Nissan HQ advises the warranty is still valid….. 20c is cheaper then $190 ;-)

Yeah, but you didn't miss a major service which is usually done every 10,000km's (or 6 months) so in your case it's fine.

I know the warranty book is very clear about NOT missing this service, but I didn't think I had to take it in, even though I haven't done 10,000kms since my last service or risk loosing my warranty emoticon

Re: Warranty status

Hey guys

Sorry to drag up this old thread but after a quick search I thought it was the most appropriate place.

Can anyone actually confirm the fact that if you don't stick to the scheduled service by date then your warranty is void?

For instance, I'm just about to take my 16 month old Exy in for its 20K service. It's only done 19K but "by the book", the 20K service should have been completed 4 months ago. The 5, 10 and 15K have been done but the 15K was nearly 11 months ago! Yup, 15K in her first 5 months then 5K in the next 11 months.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if the 24 hour roadside assist also gets transferred with the warranty when you buy 2nd hand?

Cheers
Stu
