So far you haven't told us what is the purpose of a continues power and what you wanting to use it for. Maybe if we know this we can answer your questions more accurately, as at the moment we're only guessing

Cool but isn't it easier and safer to run the pop-top on its own source of power using a separate battery without causing so much load on the primary one you're using for the exy?
Since you're intending to use the battery for such purpose, I think you should seriously consider the dual battery set-up in your exy. (see THIS thread)
