Re: audio system questions

This has bee discussed in detail and all speaker specs provided in THIS thread.

Search word is "speaker"

There is no room at all in the tailgate for any type of speakers (see photos below)

Also, refer to the DIY Guide reference post HERE which has threads of interest regarding door trim removal and speakers info.

Re: audio system questions

As Jalal has stated, there is not much room in the tail gate for speakers.

I think I included a couple of photos in my subwoofer FAQ similar to those Jalal posted above.

You would need to build out the trim panel to make room for the speakers, however I should point out that the references above were with subwoofers in mind. The 6 inch JL speakers may be shallow enough to fit without having to build out the trim panel. Without knowing the JL model number I can't be of any further assistance.

There are manufacturers (eg: Orion, Infinity, and probably a few others) that make subwoofers specifically to fit into very shallow spaces.

Keep in mind you'll also need to run the wires into the hatch door (or if you're adventurous, you could use a set of contacts that make a connection when the hatch door is closed, but this would involve drilling several holes, and a fair bit more work - thus why I used the word "adventurous"!)

I'd be interestd to see what you decide to do and keep us informed of the progress.

(Edit: link fix)
