Looks like it might get put to good use when I take some long service leave in a month! nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Mon, 09 Mar 2009 20:35:06 +0000 Re: carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024969,from=rss#post2024969https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024969,from=rss#post2024969I think that there are a lot of people out there with the same issue I've had it from day one just lived with it untill I got some of the removalist material that looks like the stuff under the carpet of our Exy. I lifted the carpet and put it down raising the height of the crpet so the tabs were no longer shortnondisclosed_email@example.com (Dave4x4)Sun, 08 Mar 2009 22:18:02 +0000 Re: carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024844,from=rss#post2024844https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024844,from=rss#post2024844Never had this problem with mine Rich and I removed the plastic door trims so many times as well.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 06 Mar 2009 22:07:02 +0000 Re: carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024838,from=rss#post2024838https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2024838,from=rss#post2024838I thought I saw a post about this a very long time ago but a search only came up with this thread which seemed the most suitable. It's probably too late for me to chase this up through the dealer, as we are long out of warranty, but we might be able to argue the point that the carpet hasn't changed since we bought the X-Trail new almost 5yrs ago... The issue is that the carpet is too small for the floorpan. IE: when you push down on it anywhere near the sides nearest the doors, it goes down at least an inch or more. It almost seems like the carpet has shrunk, but like I said above, it's been like this since new. My Pulsar never had this problem. I wonder if there was a dud batch of carpet, or does everyone else's do this as well? Try pushing down with your hand approx 50mm in from the edge of the door sill, on the flat floor part, and see if it goes down about 30-40mm before hitting the hard floor below the carpet. The descriptions earlier in the thread appear to be relevant, but it's happening on both sides at the front, and I haven't bothered checking the back floor sections yet. I don't want to have to put separate underlay in myself, but might have to if Nissan doesn't agree to full carpet replacement (which I can imagine wont be likely!). nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Fri, 06 Mar 2009 21:25:56 +0000 Re: carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867496,from=rss#post867496https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867496,from=rss#post867496thanks rich i have been told by 3rd year nissan machanic that it is quite common they fix the problem like you said by putting a piece of carpet underlay under the carpet thus giving more of the edge to grip on to. thanks robnondisclosed_email@example.com (bluetrail)Thu, 10 Mar 2005 17:26:44 +0000 Re: carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867495,from=rss#post867495https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867495,from=rss#post867495Is it coming away from under the sill? My guess is that the little tags that are supposed to clip into the metal sill rail aren't staying in place (from memory, half of mine weren't staying in place, but I've run a big fat cable down there for the amplifier, but they didn't seem to be staying in place even before I ran the cable). One option might be to remove the sill plastic, and unclip the carpet and place some spacing material (could be anything eg: foam/sponge, newspaper, cardboard, etc) underneath the carpet or along the edge of the sill, to give it abit more space to put it nearer to it's natural size/shape, so then it wont tend to keep coming undone... If this suggestion doesn't make much sense, let me know and I'll try and do a bit of a diagram or photo of it to demonstrate... nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Wed, 09 Mar 2005 22:14:17 +0000 carpetshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867494,from=rss#post867494https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p867494,from=rss#post867494is anyone having trouble with the carpet pulling away on front passenger side , had nissan dealer fix it twice now but it lasted one day. do you think they need to replace the whole thing. rob nondisclosed_email@example.com (bluetrail)Wed, 09 Mar 2005 07:40:37 +0000
