Just updated to version [sign in to see URL] with no problems at all this time. Maybe I am on Garmin's "must be allowed to update" list.

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

It's that time of year again for peoples who own Garmin GPS units with Lifetime Map Updates....

When you logon to Garmin Express you'll see there's a new version of GE, [sign in to see URL] and following the install of that you've got the latest maps for Australia and New Zealand, version [sign in to see URL].

Happy updating.

Re: GPS navigation

Yes, it’s THAT time of year again. No, not Christmas…but close.
For those of us with Garmin Lifetime Map Updates, it’s the release of the shiniest, newest, Australia and New Zealand maps, version [sign in to see URL]
All one needs do is logon to your Garmin Express, where you’ll be asked to download the latest version of GE, version [sign in to see URL], and once that’s done connect your Garmin GPS and allow GE to find all of the latest updates.
But take care here. There are a number of updates which you will undoubtedly never, ever need….like ‘Time Zone Maps’ for places like Micronesia, Morocco and Alaska.
Likewise, I doubt our requirement for ‘[sign in to see URL]’ unless you think you might take your Garmin to the Netherlands and/or Switzerland for a holiday.
Have a read-through of the offerings, simply don’t click on the INSTAL button for the un-necessaries, and download. The download and install of version [sign in to see URL] maps takes around 10-odd minutes.
Oh, and another word of warning. Garmin treats any GPS unit not updated in a 24 month period as no longer working, lost/destroyed, defunct, and removes it from its ‘Up-dateable’ database. Meaning no more free updates, ever.

BTW, I have an Eclipse radio, cd player, GPS, and reversing camera, fitted to my Xtrail (probably by the dealer, pre-sale) and its maps are supplied by Naviextras. I've just looked at updating the on-board maps from Naviextras, and they're [sign in to see URL] for [sign in to see URL] $[sign in to see URL] (AUD $[sign in to see URL]) for the latest version 2019 Q2. Wonder why I don't use my on-board GPS. :-)

Re: GPS navigation

Another successful Garmin map update completed for my old NUVI 1350. Thanks again for your timely advice Mr BPxtrail.
Due to my previous laptop running Windows 10 going to PC heaven a few months ago I resurrected my wife's old laptop running Windows 7. So I had to download Garmin Express anyway so got the latest version GE [sign in to see URL]. After that successful install, the update of Garmin maps to the latest version [sign in to see URL] was a breeze and went smoothly. I only updated the maps as you suggested.
All good now 'til the next update.

cheers

Re: GPS navigation

Good to hear, Dave.
I'll let everyone know next time there's a shiny, new update, as usual. Circa Christmas/New Year is my best guess.
All the best, emoticon
