Re: GPS navigation

I think from reading the above, I have finally worked out why I do not seem to be able to "upgrade" from "One Time" maps @$99/map to "Lifetime Maps" @$199 on my Zumo 660.

I have 'City Navigator', which I think are Sensis, and the Lifetime Maps are 'Here Maps'...Is that right? Would explain why I do not seem to be able to buy a "Lifetime" map upgrade.

I also have Shonky and Garmin Topo maps loaded as well, and considering getting OzGPS as that's what all my mates with Montana's have.

Also considering an upgrade to the newer Zumo too..portrait mode in Topo is attractive on the bike.

Re: GPS navigation

What you say sounds correct, so if you have your Garmin GPS serial numbers handy (because you will be asked for them) give Garmin Australia a call and ask them the questions. I'm sure we'd all be interested to learn their answers.
Their number, for anyone in Australia who has a Garmin query is, freecall 1800 552 923.

Re: Garmin GPS navigation

Thanks!

Hmm, considering they have increased the price of the new Zumo by $200 (now RRP of $998! and hardly anyone discounting) maybe a $99 map upgrade on my 660 is not looking so bad now.

Still, my recent trip last week to Tantangara dam and through Kosciusko using Topo and CN all went well. emoticon That is of course except for all the locked gates that are not marked on any map. emoticon

Re: GPS navigation

Hi Guys, just a quick question about the Mrs X-Trail. Its a 2010 TL Diesel. Is there anyway to get the GPS maps updated other than going to Nissan?

Thanks,
Adam.

Re: GPS navigation

Hi Adam,

Does the car have the original Eclipse head unit? If so then the below link should help.

http://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/t128176

I have the same model exy and have updated a couple of times, the last being around 2013, but I no longer have a windows based PC, only MAC, so am unable to, even if i wanted to. Unfortunately the maps aren't cheap, especially when our dollar is lower, as it is USD.

Good luck.

Allan

Re: GPS navigation

Doing a map update on the original Eclipse AVN827GA head unit is a piece of cake. Simply remove the SD card, logon to; https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal, insert the SD card into your Windows PC, and follow the instructions.

However, after my Nissan gift of 'Free 3 Years of Updates' expired I looked at paying for updates and sadly, can't bring myself to pay USD$119.95 (AUD$159.08 today) for EACH update. You must remember that updates come-out on 3, sometimes 4 occasions, per year. Makes for rather expensive maps. :-(

So I went out and bought myself a Garmin (read previous posts) and now have free map updates for the life of the unit.

Re: Garmin GPS navigation

G'day Guys,
For those who own 'older' Garmin GPS units, "Full Coverage of Australia and New Zealand, Version 2018.30" is now available from the Garmin Express site for download.
For those of us who own 'newer' units you've had 2018.30 since last October, so this isn't really news for you.
