Tailgate lock not working

My tailgate won't open. When I push the button above the rego plate nothing happens. I can open it by accessing the lock from inside and pushing the lever on the actuator.

All other locks are working fine when I operate the central locking.

The rear wash-wiper is working as is the rego plate light.

My guess is either
1. the wiring to the rear lock has broken possibly where it passes through from the tailgate to the body or,
2. The door actuator has failed.

Any other suggestions and guidance in finding the fault are appreciated.

Where could I get a copy of the wiring diagram for a 2008 t31 diesel 110kw?

Thanks

Re: Tailgate lock not working

Assuming you have the intelligent key system, the external key antenna in the rear bumper could be either faulty or have a wiring fault and not picking up the key.

Re: Tailgate lock not working

Im assuming the switch under the chrome trim/handle..

If so, that rubberised switch that is pressed to open the tailgate is prone to failure so this could easily be your problem.

Try pressing harder and/or pressing in a slightly different place on the rubber... and/or pressing a little longer.

My 2010 needs a combination of the above sometimes to activate. The switch is replaceable but comes with a small section of tailgate loom attached. Need to get into the tailgate to do it of course which can be a bit of a pain with that huge piece of trim ..
