Re: Fuel consumption (T30 & T31 2.5LT Petrol Versions)

Just an update.

Ive had the x trail for nearly 4 years now.
Commuting back and forth to Newcastle every day.

I have been keeping careful watch on the mileage and have the following results.

Average highway mileage (with air con on all the time "summer") 8.8
Average highway mileage )with air con off most of the time "winter") 8.2

Average city mileage (with air con on all the time "Summer") 10.2
Average city mileage (with air con off most of the time "Winter") 9.5

Best mileage so far (long country jaunt to Wagga Wagga) 7.9

Worst mileage so far (towing 1.5 ton boat to Forster, in summer, with air con on all the way) 18.6

I think these are pretty good for a vehicle that is everything I need in a car.

Would love to get the mileage my wife gets in her Suzuki Ignis - average 4.3
But its a 1.2 litre toy and would have a hernia trying to tow my boat.

Re:

Hello, anyone out there?

I am experiencing frustration which seems to echo that of many posters on this thread and others I've consulted on the forum, due to unexplainably poor economy.

My 2003 ST-R has just ticked over 125,000 and has been in my possession since February of this year. No body mods other than a tow bar. I quickly noticed that I seemed to be getting a very steady 350kms per tank irrespective of doing solely inner city driving, or doing a third of the tank on 80-100 roads.

I am not particularly heavy-footed, and usually rev within 1500-2200.

The car was serviced at the start of June and the mechanics (who had been taking care of the car for the previous owner) advised they couldn't find anything wrong aside from some odd voltage reads on the O2 sensor.

I brought it back in to change the sensor a month ago, and noticed a sizeable improvement over the first half of the next tank: 200kms to half way mark, which is not great but the best I'd had so far. I did some towing (500kg) over the rest of that tank therefore imparted the poor final read (370) to this.

The following tank was the shortest-lived I have had so far however, as I did not event make it to 300 clicks before the light came on. I refuelled 41L at 287kms.

So a very short-lived improvement before an all time low.

What puzzles me the most is this recent fluctuation, as I previously got very steady (and poor) figures with no more than 20kms of difference between tanks.

I'd appreciate experience and insights from fellow trailers on this, before I indiscriminately attempt solutions listed in this thread...

Cheers

t

Re: Fuel consumption (T30 & T31 2.5LT Petrol Versions)

Just reached 100k on my 2013 T31 (2.5 petrol, 6 speed manual, 4x4, 95 premium mostly, 35 psi on all four Bridgestone Ecopia, dealer serviced always, only the driver onboard 80% of time & no tow bar) and here are the average figures (+/- 5%) from the trip computer:

With air-con on:
Highway - 7.8L/100
Outer suburbs - 8.8L/100
Inner city - 9.5L/100

With air-con off:
Highway - 7.6L/100
Outer suburbs - 8.5L/100
Inner city - 9.0L/100

Safe driving, folks!

Ben
