General X Trail Upgrades - For Beach Driving

Hi! I am new to this forum and I would love some tips on putting some mods on my 2009 X-Trail Ti T31 Auto 4x4 2.5 Litre 4 cylinder.

I am just wondering what are the best All-Terrain tyres to put on my 18" rims - any tips on the best and most affordable would be great. I am Brisbane based so if anyone knows a supplier as well that would be amazing as well.

Also, what would be the best lift to put on it? I'm still learning a fair bit so i was wondering if any one has got a really effective X-Trail setup for beach driving that effectively deals with soft sand. And again if anyone in Brisbane knows where I could get this done that'd be great too.

I did speak with a Brisbane supplier and he said something about reducing the wheel size vs the lift. He suggested looking at forums which has lead me here!

I ultimately just want my X Trail to deal with soft sand the most effective way.

Any tips would be great!

Re: General X Trail Upgrades - For Beach Driving

Firstly Adam, I might suggest that 18" rims are not very good for offroading with A/T tyres due to the limited sidewall height. They really are only suited to H/T tyres for onroad and light beach driving on mostly hard sand.

For offroading and soft sand you should have smaller rims with a higher profile tyre to allow plenty of sidewall height to "bag out" and give you a wider footprint at low pressures. My suggestion would be for the standard 16" rims with 70 profile tyres.

You should find lots of information in some of the threads in the Wheels & Tyres section.
