posticon T31 Series 3 TL Wheels on a T30 Series 1 Ti...

Hi all,
Firstly, I'm weird so bear with me...

I have two questions;
What do people think of putting T31 Series 3 TL wheels on a T30 Series 1 Ti? One of the forum members is selling a set of T31 wheels and I like the more road-grip oriented tyre options that the 18"s open up. (This is the weird bit)

And, I believe the 225 wide tyres should still fit and clear everything when I put a set of H & R 30mm lowering springs on it. But I was hoping people had thoughts about this.
I have scoured the forum and only about 4 people have gone down with their Exys.
I know many people who have gone up, easily fit 225s on their T30s and some have gone 235 with varying success.

I know the wheel diameter between the two is different so I would need to put 225/50/R18s to make the speedo match.

Thanks, Knee

Going from 16s to 18s you'll need to go down from the 65 profile to the 55s and from the 215 standard up to 225 will mean another decrease down to 50 profile as you have correctly stated.

Have you checked the offset of the T31 rims compared to the T30 rims ? That could also play a part on if the tyres will fit in the guards without rubbing

The offset is either ET40 or ET45. People on the forum have said its ET40 but when I look up the specs on other websites I get both depending on EDM (European Domestic Market) or JDM (Japanese Domestic Market). I don't know which version we got here in Australia.
I'll measure my dad's T31 since he has the same wheels (his is a Series 3 or 4 Ti)

fwiw the 6 spoke 17" wheels that came on my 2010 S2 are defo 45 offset ....
...since mine is a Philippine market T31, I suspect it will be based on a JDM model...but I'm just guessing

The mystery continues...
I bought a set of wheels and tyres from another user; whip62.
On the back of these it says that the offset is ET40. My dad's wheels also have the same mark stamped on them as in this picture.
Jalal informed me that his wheels, which are the same design, are ET45...
I'll try to physically measure the wheels I got and see if I can workout the offset

Re: T31 Series 3 TL Wheels on a T30 Series 1 Ti...

Well,I may have solved the mystery;
The 18" T31 wheels are definitely ET45 offset - I measured the backspace of the wheels (146mm) and fitted them to my T30. I compared the original 16" Ti Alloys in a number of places and the T31 wheels are indeed 10mm closer to the suspension.
If people are interested, I swapped all four wheels with the T31 wheels and drove around the block to see if the wheels rubbed or made any funny noises - all clear (the tyres were 225/55/18, straight off a T31).
Ta Da!
They made the car sit a bit higher off the ground as well, I measured the clearance from the lowest point (bottom of the Hi-Tech resonator under rear seats) - 210mm

I think the reason why the wheels are stamped with "40" as their offset is because of the hub design.
The T30 hub where the wheel mounts to the suspension looks like this.
While the T31 hub looks like this.

If you compare the two images, the T30 mounting points are actually raised 5mm from the rest of the hub while the T31 is flush. I think this might be why Nissan have left the 40 on the wheel; they changed the design of the hub.

Let me know what you think,
Knee
