ex aurora xtrail

I am trying to get the cig lighter socket working. Fuse seems ok, but I replaced it anyway. There are two connectors, on larger than the other, hanging down in the fuse box area and am wondering if anyone has an idea of what use they may have been or be put. All other electrics works well and the socket in the drivers side and the rear all work fine. Also all the controls of the radio including fade etc work well. There is what appears to be a mice on the drivers side pillar, but I can't find out where it goes as I don't want to start randomly pulling everything apart.
As this xtrail was an Urora vehicle I'm thinking someone might know what they had wired in.

Have you checked the connector on the back is still plugged on ?
Maybe if it was a company vehicle they may have used that connector for a communication radio of some sort and not connected it back on after taking it out.

Re: cig lighter

I was thinking that, but as I am not into yoga,I thought a little preknowledge might help. As there are two connectors free, both not too short, I was thinking of a phone kit. I just want the plug back then I can use my cb.

Re:

I am now puting in a new radio and have finally got the right screw driver and taken the panel out hiding the back of the sig lighter. What I found was a box for a bury hands free system wired in but the pwoer lead had been CUT. So now I am chasing down all the things that were still pluged in. Any one any history of these things it does have a 2007 date on it.

Re: cig lighter

Still havent got it going, but I think I have a clue. I seems that there is a built in device that acts like a fuse, in the lighter case itself. So now i going to check it out.

The cig lighter socket is usually powered up all the time but only "comes on" when the plug is pushed in. There should only be a single connector with + and - wiring for it.

I'd like to verify that, as every car I've worked on the cig lighter in the dash only comes on with key in 'Acc' position. I've yet to see a 'double pole' cig socket that only becomes active when a matching plug is inserted. Would be very interested to see those.

I know my Garmin GPS turns off when I turn the key off, when it's plugged into the socket in the drivers dash glovebox.
