Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Hi Guys,
I have managed to install a Snorkel kit on my Exy. I ordered it via ebay - Navara D40 to begin with but that did not fit at all. So I was able to swap it to a D22 (which fitted!) This came from OCAM Industries for $129au - They are based in Melbourne and Queensland
If you are part of the Nissan X-Trail Off-Road Down Under page on Facebook, then you would have seen what I did to get it on. If you are not part of the group, then you will need to join up.
Here is the link on what I did etc:

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
That's the idea jalalski
What I did forget to mention, is that on the guards support box where we grinded off some of the section - the most important thing was to remove all the unwanted steel shavings. As you dont want them to sit there rusting your car. So i sprayed it with a dose of killrust. Also do the other side of the hole in the inside of the engine bay.
When you attach the flexi pipe to the air filter box, the shape on the end of the air cleaner box is kinda oval where the flexi pipe is round. So what we did to get around that issue, was to grind an small empty fire extinguisher (as they are aluminium) and bend it to the correct shape of the air filter input and the other end fits perfectly to the flexi hose (76mm /3"). Everything was siliconed so there are no leaks. To do this you also need to remove the bottom air filter canister so you can see what you are doing properly.

And all my wiring looms have been cleaned up so its not in the way of anything

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Hi Wiz,
The only silicon that I used was Selleys Roof & Gutter. Not sure about the safe version of silicon - i think they are all just as bad as each other ? My mate recommend to use that and some other guys on a Nissan group facebook page did as well.
I liked in particular as it mentioned this: Ideal for weather proofing caravans and truck bodies. Also liked that it was UV resistant. Here are the tech specs from there page:
*Excellent general purpose sealant. Will not attack zinc or cementitious surfaces.
*Forms a durable seal
*Does not shrink when drying
*UV resistant
*Low odour during application
*Non corrosive
*Remains flexible – will not shrink, crack, crumble or dry out
*Weather resistant
*25 Year guarantee – When used as directed within 12 months of purchase
So far so good.
