Why does no-one tell you this?

Hi all,
I just moved on from a 2010 TSI diesel xtrail to a brand new (purchased last week) 2017 T32 series 2 xtrail ST-L.
I have discovered what I find very strange in a current technologically advanced car that none of the xtrail models have voice recognition. The manual says if equipped. Yet it seems none of the aus models have this. So basically no hands free operation. This tech has been around for ages. The button on the steering wheel is very misleading. If I had know about this it provably would have been a dealbreaker.

Another note the nav unit (has sat nav) just has a software number without a date. I wanted to ensure ut had the lastest map (which should have been 2016 -going off their free map upgrades last year) yet a friends street (4years old) was not found. Can anyone who had the 2016 upgrade tell me what their software info number/edition is. Or how can I find out what edition map is i stalled in my car?

I agree,
I have spent hours trying to get the Voice recognition to work after the sales rep told me I had to install Nissan Connect to do this. I needed help with the Nissan Connect install so I called the Nissan Australia customer care, and was informed there is no ability to use voice recognition on our 2017 T32 II Ti model - or any other model.
When you buy an "intelligent" top of the line, SUV you get shown a whole lot of technology stuff - but they dont tell you whats missing.
No parking sensors
No voice recognition (to at least make phone calls)
No connection to Google Maps - which is way better & uptodate than Nissan's inbuilt GPS IMHO.
Has Nissan Connect instead of Android Auto .... but this system is very poor by comparison - Pandora but not Spotify or any alternative choice of streaming services.

We are very disappointed with our purchase, but love the vehicle itself. Should have bought a Koleos?

I have seen other posts indicating "OK Google" can work with Nissan Connect. Any assistance with this would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Melskius

To answer your 'version' query, I definitely have the latest version available in my ST-L. To check yours go to the 'setup' button to the right of the display screen. then select 'Nav', scroll to the bottom and select the 'map information' button and all the info is there.

Mine says sd2-GENJ-AS-C.A v1 and Version 367664276.

The previous version actually had the year of issue but they seem to have dropped that. The 'new' version is still out of date, missing quite a bit (my local golf club has been there for 20 years but still doesn't show up). The missing data is down to the map data provider and not Nissan but they should really change provider if this is all that they are being supplied with.
Good luck
