I understand. That's why I try to describe the problem as much as I can to you. Thank you so much for your ideas so far.
Yes, it kicks down but doesn't accelerate like it should (moves with less power)
Now that you have mentioned it, I notice a rattling from the area if the engine where the timing chain is each time I turn on the car. Could the slack chain be causing shifting problems due to the fact that the engine is not producing the required power to allow the tranny shift as it should?

[sign in to see URL] that you mentioned timing. I get a rattling sound from the engine each time I turn it over. Could the timing chain be slack, causing the engine not to produce enough power to enable the tranny shift normally? Could it also be the cause of the high Romans before shifting to 2nd gear?

So this is an Auto, correct ?

How many kms has the Xtrail done ?

If you manually shift it into 2nd does it still seem to lose power going up the same hill or only if it kicks back from drive ?

It is [sign in to see URL].
Odometer reads 138685
When I shift manually to second gear on a hill, it gets more power but once i shift back to drive or it kicks back, it loses power.

Re: T30 stuck in 2nd gear

Have you checked your air filter to make sure it is not clogged with dust ?

Kicking back into 2nd means the accelerator is pushed harder and the throttle is open wider, requiring more air and if the air filter is clogged it will restrict the amount of air which can be delivered and reduce power. By manually shifting into 2nd you would not notice this until the revs get high enough to increase the air volume above what the clogged filter might deliver.

Re: T30 stuck in 2nd gear

And similarly, same with fuel supply.

Fuel filter
In-tank screen
Fuel Pump (would usually just not start / die completely if a pump, but I've heard of stranger things!)

If you had the luxury of a fuel pressure gauge that could be observed whilst driving, that would be interesting to see. Not sure if the OBD diags display that value?

But now moving to a 2012 Jeep Cherokee KK CRD Limited.
