audio steering wheel control wiring help

omg i hope this works (no idea how to get images)

short story,

first hi and hope you all can help me

install kenwood stereo (all works)

now i got this cable with three wires to connect the steering controls
but the oem plug has 4 wires

just need to know which colour goes where

the long story

i got this stereo from autopro

i asked for a stereo with x y z....
and wanted all cables to connect all features

so i got all cables except the one that connects the iso plugs to the head unit

i went back on a Saturday with a WELL look on my face, they then said you dont need it
and just to solder the joins matching the colors. and they dont have it anyway

so i took there advise, all went well for the stereo. but the steering controls didnt have matching colors . so he gave me a data sheet from kenwood for a bunch of oem plugs from different cars saying it should be one of these. however its not

now if they worked ive attached pictures of
-the kenwood data sheet (this my help other ppl)
-the oem plug that came out of the oem stereo that im assuming is the steering wheel controls (important information)
-the kenwood stereo to car steering control wiring loom
- steering wheel
-oem stereo front and back (the grey plug is the car aerial, big white does the stereo and little white is the steering controls(i think))

cheers guys

Re: audio steering wheel control wiring help

Easiest way is to use a multimeter to check resistance between wires.

If you measure between any 2 wires
- when the phone button is pressed, the pair which gives you 0 will be the ground and input 1
- when the source button is pressed, the pair which gives you 0 will be the ground and input 2
- the wire which is common to both of the above will be the ground

When you connect them to your stereo, if you find the volume up button decreases the volume then exchange the input 1 and input 2 wires.

Re: audio steering wheel control wiring help

Img ignore me

Oem stereo has three plugs
Anntenor
Stereo power abd speakers
And another one

Turns out the plug that you use for the stereo iso is the same wires
that you solder into for steering controls

No idea what the other plug does. Throw it iver a rainbow
After unplugging it fron the oem stereo i tested the buttons and they worked
So this plug must be for something else.

The attached kenwood wiring diagram i think is correct
However i only have use of the volume.
So can't answer calls or change radio station from tge steering wheel.

Thanx for the advise tho it lead me in the right direction

Re:

Best advise i can give ,dont ask mobs that dont specialise in stereos advice, went down that road and it was a bumpy ride
i ended up at northfield car sound and bought an adapter and usb adapter so i can still use the original usb position in the console as the headunit had rear usb which meant i would have a cable hanging in the glove box, thesteering wheel adapter had to be programmed so it wasnt a straight foreward install they had the car for about 3 hrs all up the steering adapter was about 180 ish plus fitting, saved me 45 hrs of frustration ...steering controls all work without a glitch
mine is a t31
most reputable car stereo stores will have a version of the steering control adapters so ask around
