Re:

My Exy went in for a service a couple of months back and they noted the battery was failing the load test. I hunted around at Supercheap/Repco/Kmart/Battery World and all were around the same price $150.

I ended up at Kmart and getting the Exide X55D23C with a standard three year warranty. I think they were $165, but got a staff discount through my wife. These are also a maintenance free battery.

I chose this battery because it features Ag9 silver calcium, helping to provide longer life. Here's a snipet from Exide's site:

"Exide Extra is designed and built in Australia for Australian conditions. It contains advanced calcium Ag9 technology delivering high performance and longer life. This product is most suited to modern passenger and 4WD vehicles with complex charging and electrical systems. Offers an amazing 36 month warranty."

So far so good...and the car is starting quicker too emoticon

Re: battery replacement

I am thinking of replacing my battery with a N70ZZ.

from this guy
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/keilor-east/other-automotive/brand-new-power-charge-hybrid-n70zz-4wd-light-truck-battery/1039212044

I think I can make it fit.
Does anybody have any experience with a battery that is 300mm wide?

Re: battery replacement

Hey guys,

So the Panasonic branded battery is still running in my 2010 Exy lol.

It's getting the 40,000km service done today, so I'm asking them to test the battery.

Personally, I'm still looking at buying the Extra Heavy Duty by Century at Supercheap Auto. As I believe they are one of the most reliable battery manufacturers. Unfortunately these aren't cheap, but now that the climate is warming again I'm confident the battery will last till the next battery sale :-)

Cheers,

Benjamin

Re: battery replacement

Yep..original Panasonic 55D23L-MF battery appears to be on its last legs. Vehicle manufacture date 5/2010, purchased 31/8/2010 so just over 4 years of use. In July 2013 Nissan service rang to say battery test shows failing battery and offered to change it....NO THANKS I said. I have had no problems for over 12 months since then.
No problems that is until last Thursday week while away camping and couldn't start engine in morning. Car never moved since previous afternoon but doors and boot open a lot so doors and boot light and interior light must have done the draining job.
Yesterday after thoroughly cleaning inside of vehicle with all doors and boot left open for several hours the inevitable happened again ..click, click, click........no start.
On both occasions I used my auxiliary battery successfully.

So off to Power Crank to see what deal I can get...they gave me a good deal on my 130AH deep cycle AGM battery (well below listed cost) so I will suss out their platinum range. Power Crank also provides battery test prior to purchase plus free fitting.

cheers

Re: battery replacement

Was talking to a mate today and on the exact same subject.

He recommended Bond Batteries out of Melbourne.
Australian owned and made at a good price for compared to competitors like century.

I'll post up some more details tomorrow, it's late now.

Cheers,
Ben

Re: battery replacement

Put our x-trail in for a service today at a Nissan dealer, he rang to say the battery had failed the load test and if I had any trouble starting which I did not so I said not to replace I will see how it goes ,wouldn't you know when I went to pick it up flat battery, its the original battery so I suppose I can't complain about getting 6 years out of it, have not got a new one yet I have it on the battery charger now to see if I can get some more life out of it, think I might be pushing my luck somehow.

Re: battery replacement

In July 2013 during a scheduled service, the dealer rang me to say the OEM battery was on its way out and did I want it replaced. I said no. I had no trouble with it. At the January 2014 scheduled service the battery wasn't even mentioned. But guess what, when I went to pick the car up after the July 2014 scheduled service, the service rep went through what they had done and mentioned "the battery is OK" ???????
I mentioned what I was told at the July 2013 service and the service rep simply said (with tongue in cheek methinks) "oh well, batteries can be very unpredictable."
Anyway, after 4 years I considered that the battery might soon need replacing and it was. It failed me twice in August while I was away......probably after leaving tailgate open or doors open for periods of time when camping. I replaced the battery at the end of August.

So I say that you have been very lucky getting 6 years of life out of your battery. Hope you have a set of jumper leads aboard or, as in my case, an auxiliary battery which saved the day for me.

cheers and good luck with your attempt to squeeze some extra juice out of your battery.

Re: battery replacement

I put the battery back in this morning after charging it up over night and it seems ok but we are off to Tasmania next week for a touring holiday so I think I will be getting a new one before we go.

Re: battery replacement

Hello, My factory Panasonic 55D23L-MF lasted just 30 days after the factory 5yr extended warranty ran out for the car. Slow charged it and it has lasted at least another 6months until I left the interior light on and I drained it dead.
Currently recharging it after rescuing the wife and kids from a friends house this afternoon.
