I am having a very frustrating time this summer. Once my Xtrail warms up, the head unit display completely disappears! At this rate, I won't see it again until late spring.
I am thinking it is time I change out the head unit to something I can see all year round! I am just wondering if there is any generic ebay head units that seem to replace the original unit without too much fuss?

I have the same issue with my unit and and from the comments I have read in other posts I think it maybe a pretty common problem.
I am probably going to avoid the cheap eBay head units as they just don't speak quality to me but if anyone has some hands on experience please let me know.
I have been looking around for the last week or so and these are the options that I believe I have (But I am open to suggestions)
The first option and the cheapest would be to source an identical unit from Gumtree or the wreckers (supplied with security code) but I have a feeling I would encounter the same problem down the track.
The second option is to replace it with an aftermarket head unit such as Pioneer etc. There seems to be some great deals at the moment so I assume the retailers are clearing last years models. This I can do relatively cheaply if I make the use of the steering wheel controls redundant. To buy the Aerpro harnesses to use the steering controls adds around another $150 onto this cost which I think is a lot of money for the sake of a few buttons.
Like I said earlier I am open to suggestions, but I am probably just going to install aftermarket and I may look at wiring up the steering at a later time.

Re: I've had the same issue. Thankfully mine was under warranty and replaced by Nissan... the service guy did say they replace quite a few every summer due to the same problem, but didn't know what, if anything, Nissan was going to do about it.

I just had mine replaced under warranty because of this exact thing. I am going to put in another type once I can be sure my steering wheel controls and microphone will still work, want me to let you know and you can buy the one I take out?
