Mounting the lightbar ontop of the nudge might actually be illegal because of potential pedestrian injury and obstruction of field of view. That is why they banned fishing rod holders being mounted the same way when not in-use.
You should check with your local RMS

No glue or silicone was used at all, just thin gauge wires.

The only other option is to run the wires from the rear of the car from under the tail lights and under the roof rails themselves.
