Re: T30 ti 02 5spd engine removal,stripdown and reassembly - Lots of pics -

Haha, that didn't take long for someone to realise my exy is up for sale on gumtree. Even tho I'm not getting into another xtrail I will still frequent this site, like I do with a few others.
Call me crazy but I'm looking at a Porsche cayenne for my next ride.

Re: T30 ti 02 5spd engine removal,stripdown and reassembly - Lots of pics -

Hi Scott great post a very good description of whats needed.

I currently have a head /head gasket problem and would like to know which company you used for machining etc.

I rang engine exchange this morning for prices

full engine rebuild $5180 + fitting $1280
head rebuild $1240

There is a company in Queensland offering complete rebuilds for $1760 exchange this sounds far too cheap to me.

love to hear your thought on this.

I have always used Southside Engine Centre in Myaree. They can do anything from a simple head/block skim to a full build. Have used them for the xtrail, evo and subaru.

You could easily halve those numbers by doing the work yourself.
If its just your head gasket that failed and everythng else is okay id remove the head and strip it, buy new valves (ferrea brand) and get Southside to skim the head, seat the new valves and the put it all back together with the top end rebuild seals, gaskets etc. (ebay kit, greenline)

You will need new head bolts as they are tty.

Feel free to pm me for any help.

Re:

Should add that you might as well get the cams polished at the same time.
Not sure about the engine swap places, seems like a reasonable price, that price would be for a long block only, you still have to swap over all your accessories i imagine. I can be a big job to get the full engine in and out
