tyre size to suit speedo reading

Hello. have read through most of the forum and wonder what results any of you have had with increasing tyre size to sort out the speedo reading.

My new diesel is 5kms low @ 60ks and approx 8kms low @100kms/h.
I have dunlop st 20 grandtrek 225/60/r17 on it atm.

What size tyre should I run to help get the speedo correct.

Any thoughts on good replacement tyres ? Only use car for highway and bit of dirt driving.

Regards, chris

Re:

I was aware of the speedo over reading problem from several test drives prior to signing on the dotted line.

I do regular dirt road driving to and from the farm, so I had 225 65 17 Bridgestone Dueller D697's put on mine pre delivery.

I've done approx 500,000km in the last 6yrs on the predecessor to this tyre the D694 and have been very happy with it, so I'm expecting great things form the updated version the D697.

The 225 65 17 size has the speedo indicating 110km/h when it is really doing 104km/h. Providing the increase in rolling diameter isn't too big, I'll go for a 225 70 17 D697 next time as it is designated LT (light truck) which gives it a stiffer more puncture resistent sidewall.

In my 2010 t31, 225/70/17's are near perfect 1% over, but when the last set were worn out speedo was just under! Original wheels had the speedo 10% under!
