Inbuilt bluetooth and Microphone help

I am replacing by head unit for a kitchen sink but need to know where to hook into the inbuilt external microphone (located in the roof light assembly.

The head unit plug has four wires and if unplugged stops the bluetooth. I'm not worried about that as the new head unit will have it's own bluetooth, but i would really like to hook into the inbuilt mic so I don't have to run a separate mic.

Does anyone know if the mic is wired to the small (white) plug at the head unit or is it integral with the stock bluetooth?

I have a 2012 Series 4 ST-L

As a sweetener, I have just installed parking sensors and reverse camera that work a treat and happy to share my experience

Re: Inbuilt bluetooth and Microphone help

Hi Dean can you tell me what you mean by kitchen sink head unit is that the Bosch Sat/ Navigation unit as that is the one I am trying to fitted into my 2010Ts which use to have the standard Clarion unit

I have the same problem don't know where the microphone goes on the new unit as my old unit had a plug with 4 wires on it too one black, white, orange and a green one.

but new head unit has two plugs one lower which is for the speakers and steering wheel controls and one upper been informed the upper plug is for the microphone and reverse camera
But I have no idea where or which wires go where can I get your help

Re: Inbuilt bluetooth and Microphone help

Hi Steven
I purchased a no name unit from Tunezmart. 7" GPS/DVD/Radio etc. My unit came with an adapter cable between the Exy wiring loom and the unit. I have given up on using the Car's microphone and installed the one that came with the unit. It is now installed on top of the steering wheel column.

Happy to help with any specific questions

Cheers, Dean
