Re:

The big white plug shown in the first post of this thread shows 2 plugs going into it, the plug which has yellow tabs is the airbag one which you must leave alone and the other plug which has the green and white wires is the one you will be working on.

I just completed it on my 09 T31 Series 2 (I think) 2.5 SE AT.

I followed the initial post and worked like a dream! I was a bit scared at first because of all the posts I read, fuses blown etc but nothing like that!

Thank you guys for all the help!

Re: How to light up the steering controls & gear selector (T31 X-Trail)

Never mind, I only just noticed that there's multiple pages on this post, it's confusing at the bottom of pages for me as the page links are below the reply box and not immediately obvious to me.

I'll give this a go some time soon on my 2010 diesel TS.

Cheers,

Tony

Re:

Completed this mod yesterday with the assistance of my 5 y.o son. I followed the advice of John and found the 12v from the ESP switch and tapped into that so the lights come on when I have the parking lights on. Scared the crap out of me taking that plug out the first time as I had visions of the air bag deploying, but that didn't happen. I used 10amp wire with an inline 100mA fuse as per instructions. I bought a fuse holder from Jaycar and when I went to tin the ends of the wire it isn't even copper or high copper wire. Not sure what it would be but it took a lot to heat up to get the solder on there and it was silver. Didn't test resistance or anything like that but thought it would be worth mentioning. I wouldn't put one in line on an actual 10a wire. All works perfectly well and glad I had a go at it. Looking forward to my next night drive!

Re: Re:

Good Even Jalalski

Would like to do the steer wheel illumination mod to my Xtrail but not sure what model mine is as it is a TS (Diesel) built date 05/2010

Can you please tell me if this mod is possible for my model if so what instructions do I follow

Also can you please give me some advice on how I get my steering wheel controls to work as I have upgraded my standard heads unit with head unit from a 2012 xtrail which uses the bosch unit
