Re: Black Box Car Camera Recorder

My initial thoughts are looking to the 0806, however I'm sure it says it runs on 5V? I guess you just buy a converter?

Im thinking something like this https://dashcamtalk.com/matego-mg380g/#Where_to_purchase_for_lowest_price

Appears to be easy enough using it and has positive comments relating to its picture quality.

We live in the bush, so we're not usually exposed to many vehicles in our town of about 24,000. I think it will be good for any outback travels we intend on doing. Also it has good night vision qualities which will be good for our mad dash through the night in the outback. I like the idea of the sensor whilst parked, however it says something about it being hard wired and that may incur the need for additional cost to prevent battery drain through a cut off limiter or dual batteries :-) if I was to have two batteries I would then need to buy a fridge, air compressor.... And the list goes on.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more reviews on this one, and other recommended ones during our two days of travel.

Cheers,
Ben

Re:

I got my delivery last week, and all went well (so far). Spent an hour on Father's day configuring and testing. The only real drama was GPS not working, but maybe it just took a while to find satellites. Seemed fine on the second run, and then again today on the trip to and from work.

Very small unit that sits behind the rear view mirror, and has all the latest mod cons (no IR though - Dash Cams Aust recons its a waste of time). I turned of the ADAS feature...beeping every 50 metres was more irritating than helpful. Quality seems pretty good (both build and video).

I noticed on my Series 4 T31 that there is a little cutout in the roof lining in front of the two map lights and bluetooth mic. Has anyone tried hard wiring their dash cams from sourcing power in that area? The cutout looks like it is designed to have a thin cable run through it.

Cheers,
Mark

I ended up ordering a hardwire kit and a piggyback fuse, and running the power down the A pillar on the drivers side. VERY easy to install and working a treat!

Hi All,

Caught this footage on my dashcam today. I took it to the Police and they are going to issue a couple of fines.

Re: Black Box Car Camera Recorder

I recently bought a new dash cam for my bike and it's meant to be used inside the car and it's very good, as it has a front and rear facing cameras all in one unit and records what is happening outside and inside the car at the same time. Very handy for insurance purposes.

It also auto logs everything on Google maps, as it comes with a separate GPS unit that records everything including the speed the car is doing and the exact position of the car.

You can look it up on eBay under eBay item number: 331583486236

Re: Black Box Car Camera Recorder

Footage is fine but it's not full HD. I haven't tried it at night yet. Number plates are readable with no problems.
