Want to put a manual 2005-6 Engine into my manual 4/2002 ST T30.

Any issues with that anybody ie. who genuinely knows or has tried.
All engines identify as T30s, not T31s.

Re:

They're both T30s and that's correct, however the 2005-2006 (Series II model) one is designed to work with stricter emission control system and has been de-tuned at the ECU to allow it to operate with 2 catalytic converters. Your Series 1 T30 model currently operates with one cat converter and produces more power (132KW compared to 129KW for the other engine).

The internals themselves will be identical between the 2 engines, but you will need to check with the mechanic if you also need to upgrade your ECU and exhaust system at the same time to allow for the 2nd cat converter to operate.

Jalalski thnku very much,:

I expected to se an email tag on gmail. I'm about to probably buy a 2006 T30 writeoff and on this info, I'll swap the whole exhaust system over with the Engine.
Is their any issues with dropping the present Auto box on the 2006 and reconnecting the present manual box in the present 2002 Xe.

I'm beginning to think I should remain with my class of Xtrail, say to 2004.

Thanx for the great answers.
Still in Lerv

Re:To all

Is it therefore possible to just drop a 2005-6 T30 Engine ,directly into the place of the orig. destroyed 2002 Engine with all the features of the original 2002 T30 still there like its ECU, exhaust, Engine mounts etc. if ALL the Engines are supposedly, still numbered in the same series on the Compliance plate!

Is it that simple?

I expect it should be that simple as the mounting of the gearbox to the engine will have the same bolt pattern and as you have a 2002 Xtrail, you should be able to keep the same exhaust and ECU without the need for swapping them because the emissions will be tied to the manufactured year of the vehicle, not the engine.

Just reset the ECU before you start it so that all the parameters go back to factory default.

Re: Thankyou kev,

I just hope the transmission Flanges btwn Automatics and Manuals aren't different - like the motors themselves, btwn T30s.

I'll certainly report back on the hopeful success of the job. This might be a solution for expensive internal engine problems for some Xé owners. Buy a low mileage salvage vehicle at Auction all up, for approx. $1,500 and just swap away the problem. Cheers, Paol

Re:

I swapped an auto 2003 engine to my 2002 manual Xtrail Lucky for me it had nearly the exact same KMs too.
Paid a bit much for it but it was a Ti with lots of bits I wanted to change over.
