posticon And We're done.

So I went camping NYE up on the Murray and the x-box decided it was going to really start chewing oil, I mean really chewing oil. So bad in fact that I had a mortal fear of being sent a love note from the EPA, I could make all the traffic behind me at the lights vanish with the mere tap of the accelerator pedal.... It got so bad I decided to not waste money on fresh oil and instead started using mine and my brother in laws old used oil to top up the ever hungry engine after all there's no sense in wasting money on a lost cause.

I haven't had it checked by mr mechanic yet but I'm suspecting it's swallowed some cat material and scored a bore or 2. There was s suggestion to try a kero flush and see if it was gunked up oil rings but instead I bought a GU Patrol, it just seemed more practical. So lads and ladies it's arrivederci hatchback on crack and hello to a 4wd with a transfer case and some mass behind it.

Dave

Re: And We're done.

a very similar thing happened to my toyota camry, seemed ok sometimes but at about 80 km/hr it burnt oil.Like you described I covered 4 lanes of freeway for about 2Km with smoke so bad I almost converted the freeway to a carpark.

I finished up getting a replacement motor only to discover the fault was actually a blocked entry to a recirculating valve from the rocker cover.
might pay to remove rocker cover and look
