Re: 17" spare options

Sorry mate. 225 60 17 made by Nankang. Just a cheapie spare that hopefully would rarely if ever get used but better than the stupid space saver. I was told they were owned by or had something to do with Yokohama, could have been bs though. Either way the sidewalls are wider than the Dunlop of the same specs. Bummer.

Re: 17" spare options

I had a 225/65/17 in my spare wheel well. Just deflated to around 5psi and shoved it in there. Worked fine. Obviously you would have to carry an air compressor.

Re:

Sorry, told it was made by Nankang who has ties with Yok, is called a Mayrun. Looks like it may (not) run on mine, haha. I might try deflating it and see how I go as I do always have a mini compressor wherever I go.
Ill have to wait a couple of weeks to try it though, no driving, lifting or much at all at the moment as I just had a knee op on Monday.

Full/normal tyre pressure as well.

Did the floor mat fit flush with no bulging when you fitted a full size 18" alloy & tyre at normal pressure?
Your answer above did not indicate one way or another whether the fitment affected the mats & floor.
If the mats & floor "bulge", then the sliding drawers will not fit or operate as per normal & the spare wheel cover/floor will not lock down properly.

Re: 17" spare options

Bought a T32 ST 4x4 X-Trail and want to replace the pizza cutter spare in the boot. Wondering if anyone has done this already to a T32 and if it fit into the spare wheel well? As the ST, it is the 17" wheels with 225/65/17 tyres. I assume I am going to lose the under cargo tray storage area..

Also, and others may know the answer to this, do I need to put a 17x7 wheel or can I do the 17x6.5 and a narrower tyre if that makes the difference in fitting it in?

(Edited - fixing up typos)

I've got 2 spare rims and 6 AT tyres for sale if you want to have a look. They're in the for sale section but I won't be in town for a bit.

Re:

For those of us who have taken the time to do our maths & calculate tyre profiles to correct the factory speedo error, a genuine rim with the correct tyre size inflated, will not fit in the spare tyre space.

The factory spare isn't even a joke. It's an abomination!

Seriously, an 80km/h speed limited passenger tyre on the best SUV in it's class!! What was Nissan thinking?

The cost of production between a real tyre and what Nissan fitted at the factory would be less than $5.

Re: 17" spare options

Not sure what you are actually saying. I have two 17 inch genuine nissan rims with 225/60/17 tyres as spares and the spare in the vehicle fits perfectly in the tyre well with the unused Yokohoma Geolander A/T G12 tyre fully inflated to 36psi.

The vehicle was purchased in August 2010 (series 2) and came with 215/60/17 tyres as standard on the vehicle with the 80kph metal space save spare...which I got rid of when I went up a size. The 225/60/17 was the maximum legal size then in NSW but regulation changes since then now allow 225/65/17.

As this thread is title "17" spare options" then I assume you are talking about 17" rims which as stated above fit.

So are you talking about the larger 225/65/17 tyres that wont fit it tyre well if fully inflated??? because the 225/60/17 tyres do fit.
