Mystery of missing brackets.

I'm looking for secondhand Nudge Bar for my 2004 T30 Ti Series 2 X-Trail.
Strangely, there is some Nudge Bars that will suit my car on eBay and Gumtree but
they are missing mounting brackets.
Also for some reason no one what to sell brackets on their own, tried dealer and wreckers.

So my question is: What happened to nudge bar brackets if someone is selling
Nudge Bar without them?

Andrew

Re:

They could be stolen nudge bars and the time it takes to unbolt the nudge bar from the brackets is far less than having to unbolt the brackets themselves. Well, that's one theory anyway.

No one will sell you the brackets by themselves of course.

Might want to use the "Wanted to Buy" section to increase your chances.

Re: Mistery of missing brackets.

I fitted T30 nudge bars at a Nissan dealer in Werribbee in 2006/7 the brackets are mounted to the steel re-enforcement bar under the plastic bar and you have to remove the plastic bar to get them on/off most likely the wrecker/seller didn't bother stripping all the bits off the car being parted out. Your best bet is to front up to a wrecker with the x-trail bar and ask them to strip off all the parts for you. Or check the local U pull it type wreckers for a t30 with a nudge bar and go get busy with some tools.

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Mystery of missing brackets.

I searched around. Wrecker in Melbourne west quoted me $350 for used nudge bar with brackets. Then I found this ad on Gumtree, "Nudge bar with brackets, roofracks and back cargo cover for $350". Since I only needed nudge bar I asked for price. " $150 if you pick it up today" was the answer. So I did.
Turned out that Nudge bar was still in cardboard box with all brackets, templates and instructions. Even had original invoice from TJM to Nissan back from Dec 03.

Mounted it yesterday. Looks great.
It took me just over 3 hours. Lining up support brackets was bit tricky even with
drill template for brackets and paper one for plastic bumper.
It is probably easier with two people but I did it and I'm very happy with
result.
If anyone needs original instructions and templates for Series 2 let me know.

Andrew
