Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Hi Charlie,

I used spacers manufactured by Auto & Marine Urethane Australia (I highly recommend them btw, good quality and the customer service was also excellent), but I guess any GQ/GU Patrol front spacers would work.

Regarding the shocks, I can't be sure since I currently have ARB OME shocks in my X-Trail, but IIRC the front sway bar links limit the outward travel before the shocks reach the end of their travel. So that would mean you should be able to use the coil spring spacers also with the stock shock absorbers.

I haven't made any modifications to the bump stops.

Re:

Cheers Finn - Did you use them on the rear springs too ?

I guess you could use longer links, may be even Patrol ones, do not know if the T31 links are longer, they have a higher ride height I think. I do not know whether the link Jalal put up on the previous page regarding this would be any help.

I think for the small amount of lift I am looking for it would not be an issue. I will have to take some measurements....

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

No, in the rear I still have the strut spacers and the ARB OME springs for a total lift of 75 to 80mm.

I think you could use Land Cruiser 76/78/79 series (or, interestingly, Nissan B13) front spring spacers on top of the rear springs on the X-Trail. Note that they would only fit on top, the bottom end diameter is the largest I have seen on a coil sprung 4x4 and I don't think anyone makes coil spring spacers that large.

It's probably a good idea to use the stock sway bar links on the front, or equivalent heavy duty links, as insurance against CV joint damage. The links are cheaper and way easier to replace that a CV joint or an entire axle shaft. emoticon

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Hi Finn. You have a point re the CV's. Thanks.

So seeing as it seems the only people who supply coils spring spacers for Patrols are in Aus, I need to look at alternatives to do this.

Not sure of the dimensions, but my T30 is a diesel, YD 2.2 ETi. I need to find out spring sizes, so I can find a useable 30mm spacer.

Cheers

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

I replied to your message on the UK forums regarding the spring sizes. As for the spacer manufacturers being in Australia, if I recall correctly there's also one in Spain or Portugal that makes spacers for the Patrol but AMU was still the cheaper option for me, plus the supplied information was better and I like to endorse that. You have noticed they ship to international customers too?

Also, I thought I'd clarify something about the rear springs: GQ/GU Patrol rear springs have the same outer diameter as the X-Trail in the bottom end, but the inner diameter is smaller (probably because of the greater weight and load carrying capacity). You might be able to use the Patrol spacers also in the rear but personally I'd be worried about the springs becoming unseated when driving over a bump and causing an accident.

Re:

Hey guys I'm looking at lifting my T30. I've found the obvious lift kits. 30mm struts and spring lift or 50mm block lift. From what I've read it's unsafe to go more than 50mm anyway.
I've tried to find a comparison of the 2 but have struggled to find a good one.

So my question is who has done what and what's your opinion of each lift?

I'm obviously looking for the lift but still want a good ride. Any opinions will greatly appreciated
Cheers all

Re:

Has anyone found some smaller strut spacers (25mm) for a t30 xtrail?
The ones that bolt on the top.
Those 50mm ones are too big and expensive and Im already installing king springs.

Re: T30 Suspension Lift

Superior engineering who make the 50mm strut spacers used to have a smaller spacer, either 25mm or 35mm but it has disappeared from their webpage.
Maybe you could contact them to see if some could still be made, as I am sure they would still have the drawings.
